Why Natsu and Lucy could finally end up together in the new Fairy Tail serialization
When Fairy Tail was in its final arc, many fans expected the story to finally set up endgame couples that include Natsu and Lucy ending up together. Unfortunately, this never happened and was quite a surprising move by the author at the time. That said, this decision didn't mean that Hiro Mashima would never make them canon in Fairy Tail. Currently, Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest is still in active progress, and Natsu and Lucy's relationship could be further developed later on. At the end of 100 Year Quest, the two could finally be a canon couple and maybe even end up married.
In the past, Hiro Mashima even illustrated what the two's possible children would look like. As for the couple, it's unlikely to see him end the sequel in a vague way. With the new information at hand, it is more than likely that they will officially end up together at some point down the line. Plus, with new projects on the way, more is expected from the pair later this year.

Fairy Tail returns with Re:Fantasia and continues with the 100 Year Quest
Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest has been in serialization for several years now, but the franchise is expanding things even further this year. For the series' 20th anniversary, it was revealed that the Fairy Tail manga, illustrated and written by Hiro Mashima, would be returning. This new manga serialization is called “Fairy Tail Re:Fantasia” and will be released on July 29, 2026 in issue 35 of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine. That's exciting, and while we still don't know what this new manga might cover, indications are that it's about Laxus. Fans are still hoping to see Natsu and Lucy together in the short series, and Hiro Mashima could potentially face that in this story.
Of course, other characters will appear, but it is unlikely that it will be only romances. However, the return of Fairy Tail is highly anticipated and could lead to more projects in the future, including more spin-offs, as Hiro Mashima is always looking forward to returning to his first hit.
