Ancient Bunker Walkthrough (Mercatum Tabula Quest)

The Ancient Bunker on Oasis V is a dilapidated Imperial facility that players will need to search if they want to complete one of Jae's side quests in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader. There's only one optional combat encounter, but the real killer you'll have to deal with is the toxic gas covering the bunker. You won't have much time to explore this area Rogue merchantso here's a guide on where to find the most important pieces of loot inside the ancient bunker.

Before entering the ancient bunker, I highly recommend taking Pasqal with you. Make sure it has high tech usage so it can open most doors for you. If you didn't take Pasqal, or if his Tech-Use stat isn't high enough, be sure to take the keys listed on the map above.

Worn Seal is the biggest reason many players will go to the Ancient Bunker, and you can get it by opening one of the lockers behind the shower in the western part of the facility. Blast the main door, take the first left down the hall, enter the showers, then open the locked door leading to the maintenance room. A worn seal is inside one of the cabinets.

The gas inside the bunker will constantly damage your characters (including your familiars) while they are inside, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. If your party's health drops critically, return back to the Spaceship and then re-enter the Ancient Bunker. Still, if you want to cut the gas, there is a way.

From the maintenance room, then head north down the hall outside open the second door to the right find a boiler room and a room with a cogitator that controls the ventilation system. If you want to clear the toxic gas in the bunker, follow these steps:

  1. Pick up the valve next to the Cogitator (if you don't already have it)

  2. Place the valve on the vertical pipe near the main entrance to the boiler room

  3. Communicate with the newly placed valve

  4. Communicate with the Cogitator

  5. Activate the emergency ventilation system via the Cogitator

The gas should now be cleared and you'll be able to loot the bunker without fear of liquefying your lungs.

In addition to various miscellaneous goods that you can use to gain reputation Rogue Trader's faction, you can get two unique items from the ancient bunker:

  • The Sworn protector The Las Gun grants its user +1 decision for each enemy killed until the end of combat. Only characters with the Iconoclast — Adherent can use this weapon.

  • The Combination tool grants the wearer +10 Tech-Use, allowing them to pass more complex skill checks. This is best given to characters that already have a high value Tech-Use skill like Pasqal.

Admittedly, none of these items are very good. The Sworn Protector loses much of its power at the end of Act 2, and the Combi-Tool doesn't offer much in actual combat.

You can also find three different items that will give you more information about what happened to the bunker's inhabitants. In short, Ancient Bunkr is a reference to the original Fallout game.
