Fitness influencer Steph Claire Smith has recalled the unlikely place she met megastar Taylor Swift.
In an interview with the Sleep Deprived podcast, hosted by Indy Clinton, the KIC co-founder and model was asked about the 2014 encounter.
“I met her when I was living in New York. We had the same personal trainer,” Smith shared.
“And I saw her in the bathroom of the place that does like group (workout) classes and stuff like that. I was there – I’d just finished a session, or she’d just finished a session – and we just got chatting.
“There was a class going on, so there was no one else in the bathroom, and, honestly, it was just like a really casual girls’ bathroom kind of chat. I can’t even remember what it was (about).”
An incredulous Clinton broke in to ask Smith if she’d known at the time who the pop star was.
“Of course I knew who she was,” Smith responded.
“This was in her era of her girl gang, Karlie Kloss … ‘Shake It Off’ came out in that year … I very much knew who she was.
“But it was probably like five or 10 minutes into our conversation where she like, reached out her hand and was like, ‘Oh my god, sorry, by the way, I’m Taylor’.
“And I couldn’t help myself. I was like, ‘Sorry, I know who you are’.”
Commenting on a clip of the conversation between Clinton and Smith, one listener wrote that she “had legit goosebumps” hearing the story.
“What a story. What a dream,” another commented.
“This story blew my mind. Literally dream!!!” a third said.
“I’m pretty sure I’ve been to that (fitness) studio, every time I went to New York,” a fourth said, before guessing the encounter happened at the now-shuttered ModelFIT.
