NSW Police charge four people in domestic violence operation

NSW Police have charged three men and a woman with alleged domestic violence offences following a targeted operation in the state’s north.

The operation kicked off on Wednesday, with the Coffs Harbour high risk domestic violence offender team and the Richmond DV team, proactive crime team, crime prevention unit and dog unit targeting alleged domestic violence offenders wanted on warrants within the Richmond Police District.

About 9.55am that day, officers attended a home at Muli Muli and arrested a man following a foot pursuit, police said on Thursday.

The 35-year-old man was taken to Casino Police Station where two warrants were executed.

He was charged with three counts of contravening prohibition or restriction in AVO, common assault, intentionally choke a person without consent and causing grievous bodily harm.

Then about 12pm, officers attended a home at Tabulam and arrested a 31-year-old man.

He was taken to Casino Police Station where four warrants were executed and he was charged with contravening a prohibition or restriction in AVO, stalking or intimidating and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The two men were refused bail and appeared before Lismore Court on Thursday.

Police attended a home in West Ballina about 9.15am on Thursday and arrested a 36-year-old man at the scene.

He was taken to Ballina Police Station where he was charged with two counts of contravening a prohibition or restriction in AVO, stalking or intimidating, entering a prescribed premises of any person without a lawful excuse and possessing prohibited drugs.

He was refused bail and appeared before Ballina Local Court on Thursday.

Police also charged a 25-year-old woman with alleged offences about 1.55pm on Wednesday in Casino.

She was taken to Casino Police Station and charged with two counts of failing to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment, contravening prohibition/restriction in AVO, and attempting to stalk or intimidate.

She was refused bail and appeared before Lismore Local Court on Thursday.

The operation continues.
