Influencer Isabelle Mathers has ruffled feathers by wearing a ball gown to her friend’s wedding welcome dinner.

The Aussie influencer, who has over a million followers, posted a photo dump on Instagram that included photos of her wearing a floor-length, partially see-through yellow dress.

She’d worn the dress to attend fellow influencer and fitness instructor Rachel Dillion’s wedding welcome dinner.

The bride opted for a white mini dress for dinner, while Mathers had gone for a full-length number.

People online weren’t impressed with Mather’s choice, and some labelled the dress “inappropriate.”

“I don’t want to be mean. But that’s not an appropriate dress for a wedding,” one commented.

“Inappropriate dress for a wedding. Period,” another wrote.

“The belly cut out for wedding? Just seems not appropriate,” someone remarked.

One comment even prompted a reply from Mathers, 25, when someone claimed the outfit seemed to suggest that she wanted to “outshine the bride.”

“The bride is my best friend. You don’t think I discussed every single of my outfits with her?” Mathers replied.

Others online were in favour of the look,

“Does it really matter y’all? She already went to the wedding/rehearsals?” One asked.

“Literally, everyone is so upset about how perfect you are,” another argued.

“People are so lame leaving comments putting u down for wearing a dress,” one person wrote.

Dillion married Tobi Pearce, who was previously engaged to influencer and fitness queen Kayla Itsines, in a lavish ceremony in Italy over the weekend.

Pearce and Itsines share a daughter, Arna, five, who played the important role of flower girl during the celebrations.

For the actual wedding, Mathers was a bridesmaid and wore a slinky yellow dress, but it was her dinner outfit that got everyone talking.

Meanwhile, Dillion doesn’t seem troubled by Mather’s ball gown moment. She’s been posting wedding content online to her 1.7 million followers, and Mathers is heavily featured in plenty of the photos.
