Actor Brooke Shields has revealed why her adult daughters, Rowan and Grier Hency, will always be her babies.

Shields, who became famous at only 12 when she starred in the film Pretty Baby, has opened up about raising her adult daughters.

During an interview on the Jess Cagle Show, Shields revealed that her daughters still sleep in the same bed with her.

“My younger daughter just turned 18. You know, the minute my husband is on any type of work trip or gone or something, you know, they still sleep in the bed with me,” she said.

Shields explained that they’ll hang out in bed watching romantic comedies, and no matter how old they get, they’ll always be her “babies, and they will never not be,” she added.

The actor said that people keep telling her she’ll enjoy being an empty nester but she dreads the idea of them both leaving home.

“People will say to me, ‘Oh, you’re going to be so relieved,’ and I just don’t see it happening,” she admitted.

Shields shares her two daughters with her husband, producer and screenwriter Chris Henchy, and the family resides in New York City.

Her eldest daughter, Rowan, is 20 and she is currently attending Wake Forest University in North Carolina. She famously wore Shields’ red strapless gown for the 1998 Golden Gloves Awards to prom.

Shields shared a snap on Instagram and wrote that she was “proud” to see her daughter in the dress.

“I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom. Proud mama!” she wrote.

When Rowan left for University, Shields posted on Instagram that dropping her daughter off at University was the “saddest drive away from anywhere.”

The pair are clearly still extremely close, and Shields often posts on social media to her two million followers about their adventures together. The mother-daughter duo was recently in Italy together.

As for Grier, 18, she has followed in her mum’s modelling footsteps and has signed with IMG models.

Shields opened up about her daughter’s career on the American morning show Live with Kelly and Mark and said she agreed to let her daughter pursue modelling as long as she decided to also attend university.

“You’re going to be with an agency. You’re going to have a great work ethic. It’s not going to be comfortable. You’re going to listen to me. And you’re going to college,” she said.
