Abhijeet Abhijeet and Robin Gartan: Brothers arrested in Goulburn to be extradited over fatal Melbourne stabbing

Two men wanted for questioning following a fatal stabbing in Melbourne have been arrested in regional NSW.

Abhijeet Abhijeet, 26, and Robin Gartan, 27, were arrested in Goulburn on Tuesday morning, a day after police appealed for public help locating the two brothers.

The search was launched after two men were stabbed at an Ormond home on North Rd in Melbourne’s southeast about 1am on Sunday.

A 22-year-old man was found with fatal injuries and died at the scene, while a 30-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

On Monday, Detective Inspector Dean Thomas told media that police believed the brothers lived at the Ormond home, where a party was held on Sunday.

“There was an altercation that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning … resulting with the victims being stabbed, one fatally,” he said.

“We’re very keen to get hold of these two as quickly as we can so that we can interview them in relation to what has occurred and get to the bottom of it.”

It’s believed the pair left in a 2014 white Toyota Camry sedan, with police urging the public not to approach the brothers.

Mr Abhijeet and Mr Gartan have not been charged with any offences and are expected to appear in the Goulburn Local Court for an extradition application on Wednesday.
