Nachos sell for $270, tequila for $18k at F1 Miami Grand Prix

Would you pay $270 for nachos if you got to eat them trackside to watch the Formula 1?

A menu has revealed the premium prices guests were forking out for food and drink at Hard Rock’s Beach Club Deck at the Miami Grand Prix.

The “exclusive club” has trackside viewing, multiple bars, a pool and performances from big names like Ed Sheeran and Steve Aoki. Past performers have included the Jonas Brothers and Post Malone.

After paying for tickets – starting from $US1750 (about $2660) – for the three-day event and add-ons for groups such as a private cabana, VIP table or poolside daybed, food is then purchased separately.

A 10-person cabana has been reported to cost $US65,000 (about $98,900) with a $US30,000 (about $45,700) minimum food and beverage spend.

The Hard Rock chilled “bites” menu included lobster rolls for $US190 ($290), yellowfin tuna poke for $US170 ($260), U5 graded prawns (very large and rare) for $US290 ($440), and a fruit plate with pink pineapple, watermelon, stone fruit, rambutan, kiwi and coconut granita for $US190 ($290).

You could add 28g of caviar to any item for $US400 ($610).

In the warmed section of the bites menu, guests could find meals including a coconut chicken and angus garlic beef empanada duo for $US170 ($260), steamed buns with Korean BBQ shiitake and pickled vegetables for $US120 ($180) and crispy wing board for $US190 ($290).

An F1 platter for $US210 ($320) included sliders, ribeye quesadilla and crispy chicken tenders.

Fashion and beauty influencer Brigette Pheloung, known as Acquired Style online, attended and said it was “the most expensive items I think I have ever seen in my life”.

Reviewing the $270 nachos on her TikTok she asked “is it worth it?” before taking a bite to taste. “It is good, it is good” she concluded.

Her video has been viewed more than 2.5 million times.

It is unclear how many people each dish is designed to feed. Some social media users argued it must be six to ten guests in a cabana for the price.

A photo of a menu, which a social media user claimed was from last year, specified the dishes served four people but it was also more expensive.

On that menu lobster rolls cost $450, tuna poke set you back $US350 ($530) and the prawns were a costly $US500 ($760), with the same price tag for an F1 platter.

The most expensive drinks on this year’s menu were Armand de Brignac Rosé champagne (1.5L) for $US3600 ($5480), a bottle of Komos Extra Añejo tequila for $US4800 ($7300) and Clase Azul Ultra tequila for $US12,000 ($18,260).

“The craziest part is how much you have to pay for a ticket just to be able to pay that much for food,” one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“I’m more an ‘add $3.50 for chicken’ than an ‘add $400 for caviar’ type of guy,” another joked.

“It’s in a VIP section. What do you expect lol? This ain’t a regular food stand,” a third wrote, more surprised by the outrage.

One comment on TikTok with more than 17,000 likes in support said: “That is literal highway robbery.”

“My prediction for ‘expensive’ was WAY off,” another person wrote.
