Westfield Carousel shopping centre locked down after knife fight

The largest shopping centre in Perth has been locked down after a knife incident that left one young man with a wound to his face.

Police confirmed two males were involved in a physical altercation, with one of them armed with a knife.

A 20-year-old man suffered a slash wound injury to his face.

“The knife has been secured at the scene,” a police spokesperson said.

“Inquiries remain ongoing to locate the other male.”

Police said there was no ongoing threat to the public or further cause for alarm.

A number of police resources remain at the scene.

Reports on social media said there was an incident around Myer, with shoppers told to stay quiet and others were locked down.

Police said they asked anyone in the shopping centre to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behaviour.

“We urge the public to stay away from the area until more is known,” police said.

Multiple ambulance crews have been sent to the shopping centre.
