Why Apex Legends Shouldn't Return to Support Changes
Season 23 of Apex Legends led the meta heavily in favor of Support class legends, which Respawn shouldn't be quick to reverse.
According to Respawn, a new battle royale update was applied on January 16. Among the changelog, several lobby issues have been fixed, including voice and text chat not working, and visual issues related to the lobby on PC. The update also fixed an in-game issue where the Lifeline tactical drone would detect the Mirage when cloaked. This was potentially a big problem as Mirage's cloaking ability was improved in the mid-season update and Lifeline is currently one of the most picked legendaries in the game. This meant that a potentially game-breaking situation could occur quite often before being fixed.
In addition to these changes, the new update addressed issues with some cosmetic products Apex Legends. Based on the patch notes, reactive skins should now work as intended, as there was previously a bug causing VFX to not display correctly after switching weapons. The developer also revealed that the Attrition G7 Scout skin has been temporarily removed from the game. Unfortunately, no return date has been recorded as the error is being resolved.
While these minor updates are good news for struggling players, the community is also excited to see what Respawn has in store. While fans still have about a month until the release of season 24 Apex LegendsRespawn recently revealed some of its more immediate plans. January 21st Apex Legends goes with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in the form of the Lunar Rebirth fundraising event. It will bring returning Square Enix game-themed cosmetics and a Prestige skin for Alter. Additionally, Rift Relics sees the return of Materia Hop-Ups and the return of R2R5's Buster Sword.
Hopefully, these future changes will improve the experience for players who are unhappy with the current state Apex Legends. With the game's player count on platforms like Steam dropping in recent months, developers are looking for ways to bring players back.
