Battlefield 6 now allows you to pre-order Battle Passes

EA has a bad reputation for predatory microtransactions. Whether it's loot boxes in FIFA Ultimate Team or skins and battle passes in Battlefield 6, the company knows how to get money from players. It's not that others don't do it, of course, but EA has always been considered the worst of them all.

However, just when you thought EA was sliding off its paid content pedestal, it's come up with a masterstroke with Battlefield 6. Not content with just taking the money, it now wants to take it upfront by allowing you to pre-order battle passes. This is why GOATS are monetized.

Battlefield 6 introduces Battle Pass pre-orders

Instead of just waiting for your paid Battle Pass, you can now pre-purchase the Season 3 Battle Pass and get a free skin, skip two levels and get the Battle Pass instantly. But that's still not all. If you pre-purchase Season 3 BF Pro, you will get two weapon skins along with other goodies.

As for what the community thinks about it, most of the comments seem to just feel defeated. “They only make these things because people buy them. If people simply said 'there's no way I'm paying for this,' it wouldn't happen. But people have no impulse control, so they keep unpacking it all and keep selling it,” said one Reddit commenter.

Battlefield 6 Studios hit with layoffs despite record launch numbers

EA has reportedly laid off an unconfirmed number of Battlefield 6 employees from multiple studios as part of a “reshuffle” across the franchise.

“Yeah it's stupid but if you're buying the battle pass anyway why not just do it to get extra skins. It's totally stupid though and I don't know who's green-lighting it and I was hoping people wouldn't make fun of it,” said another.

This is all after most of the community vowed not to pre-order the game until they were sure it was worth it. Of course, that didn't work, because by the time the second season came around, things started to look down. While the communication from the developers has been about listening to the community, I don't think anyone has asked for that.
