UPDATE: 2025/10/30 15:33 EST BY RICHARD WARREN
An EA blog article that previously mentioned all Season 1 Battle Pass journeys needing to be completed before accessing Season Journeys has since been updated to remove this statement. In its place is the statement that “progress on these Season Paths can be made concurrently with the completion of the regular Season 1 Battle Pass.” It's unclear if this wording change means that players will no longer need to go through clearance to access seasonal content. The original article is as follows.
Battlefield 6 is off to a strange start to its inaugural season. On the one hand Battlefield: RedSec is a powerful battle royale experience that is getting the franchise noticed more and more. Its destruction and map were key points of praise, although for those who only like multiplayer, it was only a source of anger. Battlefield 6 was reviewed bombed due to RedSecwith players bashing BR for having the map and destruction they want in the base game. It has also been blamed, fairly or not, for the introduction of battle pass and in-game trading BF6while players are also unhappy that the pass contains challenges that can only be completed in BR mode. Unfortunately, this is only the tip of the iceberg.
Main Battlefield the subreddit was an echo chamber for negativity, as players tired of complaints had to flee to alternative subreddits or social media platforms to discuss the game. Some Battlefield 6 players turned away from the negativity and grew tired of endless complaints about color skins or map size. While the significance of these issues can be debated, it's hard to argue against the outrage when it comes to other issues, such as broken promises regarding Battlefield Portal progression. Another issue that no one is happy with is seasonal events that take the concept of “Fear of Missing Out” (FOMO) to new heights.
An explanation of how to access problematic Battlefield 6 events
Unlike most live service games, where public events are completely separate from the main grind and players can unlock rewards for free regardless of where they are in the battle pass, Battlefield 6 forcing players to progress through the Season 1 pass just to have a chance to engage in smaller season passes. And it's not like they have to advance just a little further; players must complete almost the entire battle pass to access seasonal events when they debut, as only mastery levels are exempt from the grind. This means players must reach level 93 BF6 battle pass, and they don't have long.
It is not clear how harsh Battlefield 6Season 1 event tickets will be. Although they are small and easy to clean, players will have to push themselves if they want to pass the battle pass and have a chance to earn them.
Battlefield 6The first seasonal reward path will be accessible from November 18th and will disappear on December 9th. It includes the DB 12 Shotgun, and it is currently unclear if this weapon will be unlockable through challenges after the event. It basically gives players only 3 weeks to complete the battle pass Battlefield 6 if they want a full 3 weeks to complete the California Resistance event. The second event, Ice Lock, also offers a special unlock in the form of the Ice Climbing Ax melee weapon. It starts on December 9th and ends when Season 1 does, probably mid-January. The FOMO around weapons is a real fear for players because it's unclear if there will be such a thing Call of Duty's armory to get weapons after events, but it's even worse when there is a huge battle pass grind necessary to even start an extra seasonal grind.
That makes it all the more frustrating Battlefield 6challenge-oriented pass progression system. While players can progress through XP, these unlocks are extremely slow and progress essentially slows to a halt once players have completed all of their challenges for the week. Solving these challenges isn't always something players enjoy – the aforementioned gameplay requirement Battlefield RedSec is a real point of frustration for some – but with the slow token unlocking for casual play, there's not much to choose from. With some challenges requiring victory Battlefield 6 game modes that players may not even like, it's just more tiring. However, if players want to participate in seasonal events, they have no choice but to push through this pain, and they need to do so as soon as possible.
For Battlefield 6, there is still hope that the course will be right
While players are understandably outraged by this seasonal event reveal, arguing that they feel forced to buy a Battlefield PRO token or skip levels just to unlock a new shotgun and melee weapon, perhaps Battlefield Studios will adjust its approach after seeing the pushback. After all, the developers have already removed Battlefield 6the most controversial skin and adjusted the brightness of the green color on another, indicating that the teams working on the game are hearing feedback. Conquest's quick refund of ticket changes also supports this. While Battlefield 6The skin criticism may be over the top in the eyes of some fans, especially given how tame and grounded the store's content is, it's unlikely that there will be any player who approves of the seasonal event situation. For now, fans can only make their voices heard and point to how practically every other game handles seasonal events as an example of how things should change.
