As fans, they are patiently waiting for the re-release Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 on PS4/PS5, newbies and veteran players alike may wonder what weapons they should use when returning to these classics. Fortunately, as with the best weapons of the original Black Ops, Black Ops 2the goal is set in stone. Ports aren't expected to make any balance changes, so if their goal is to dominate the battlefield, players need look no further than the following weapons. And with BO2 to be where the competition is Cod the scene has really taken off, the matches are likely to get pretty sweaty again, so getting any advantage that can be overcome by attempts will be a must.
Although Black Ops 1 and 2 the ports do not have a release date, they are expected to cost $40 each. BO1 and BO2 DLC will probably need to be re-purchased even on modern PlayStation consoles.

Most OP PS5 PSA: Call of Duty: Black Ops weapons are already clear
The original Black Ops is coming to modern PlayStation consoles sometime in July, so it's worth brushing up on the best weapons.
Black Ops 2's iconic AN-94 leads the pack of great assault rifles
Back through Black Ops 3 supply drop and the currently active Uncaged in event Black Ops 7 (pictured above), the AN-94 has been a popular and sought-after weapon in every era Cod franchise. From boots on the ground to advanced movement to modern Warzone era, this gun stood out for its beautiful aesthetic, satisfying sounds, and useful trick firing pattern.
IN Black Ops 2The AN-94 shined because it fired the first two shots faster. This initial damage boost gave him a very fast time to kill and made him competitive in any scenario from short range to long range. Aside from this significant advantage, the AN-94 was a very well-rounded assault rifle. For attachments, the optics can be ignored as the default iron sights are excellent, the stock for faster movement and the silencer for stealthy shots are more useful. In general, suppressors are a good choice in everyone Cod a traditional red dot minimap game.
Unlike Black Ops 1which by default only allowed one attachment on primaries, but 2 with the Warlord perk, BO2 players have access to two attachments per primary and 3 with the Gunfighter wild card by default. Secondary values can be increased from 1 to 2 using a wildcard.
The MSMC from Black Ops 2 is one of many competitive SMGs
However, unlike the original Black Ops (and many others Call of Duty games) where either the SMG or AR class is dominant and the other was clearly inferior, BO2 managed to offer both a great AR and a great SMG at the same time. For example, the MSMC was a practically perfect weapon that players had no problem controlling the lobby with.
While “flawless” is not a word that should be used lightly, it really does apply to this gun as it has very manageable recoil, an extremely generous 3-shot range, and a fast reload. Few weapons have ever handled better than this one Cod franchise, especially when it has the right attachments. An extended magazine can help accommodate rapid fire (a rapid magazine is also viable if you prefer that approach), while a long barrel is a must to further increase the kill range to 3 shots. Suppressors also apply. Since the MSMC is the king of the SMG, a different wild card than the Gunfighter can be used since it doesn't really need more than two of the four attachments listed above.
Alternatives to Black Ops 2 AN94 and MSMC
Black Ops 2 is loaded with great weapons, so while it may be the most comprehensive of the two main categories, other excellent BO2 weapons are as follows:
-
M8A1 — A four-wheeled blaster that went back in BO7this weapon is great for long range battles.
-
FN FAL — If anyone has a quick trigger (or the DualSense Edge and its adaptive triggers), this weapon will be a threat on the PS5.
-
Scar H — A solid assault rifle that trades accuracy for damage, this weapon is a solid choice for those trying to handle recoil.
-
MP7 — Scar H class SMG, MP7 users will be able to enjoy the benefits of no recoil.
-
Skorpion EVO — If one prefers to get close (or grind Nuketown 2025 for camouflage), this SMG's absurd rate of fire will get the job done every time. Just be prepared for some backlash.
-
Remington 870 MCS — Unlike BO1A bland shotgun, this pump-action weapon fires at short range.
-
KSG — If players have good aim, this gun will outshine the Remington as its projectiles can kill from a very long distance.
-
DSR-50 — Even after that BO2A controversial quickscoping nerf, this powerful sniper is best in class and synonymous with the game.
-
LSAT — Specifically with a target finder, this accurate and powerful LMG allows players to easily lock down any travel lane of their choice.
-
KAP-40 – Arguably the second most iconic pistol in the Cod history — The M1911 takes the cake thanks to Zombies — This fully automatic beast can beat a number of primary weapons.
With much more viable top tier weapons available in Black Ops 2 than its predecessor, players will have more to choose from as they work their way back to unlocking the series' first master camo, Diamond. Still, if you're looking for the best of the best, the AN-94 and MSMC really can't be beat.
