Black Ops 6 introduces Squid crossover games for January 2025

Over the past few years, Call of Duty has become much more than just a shooter. While the campaigns have remained more or less the same, including Black Ops 6's campaign, new innovations and ideas have shined through, especially in the multiplayer modes. Fortnite has largely led the way in terms of crossovers, but Call of Duty has followed suit in its own way.

Squid Game: The Challenge is a lot of fun and yet should never have been made. Neither should this upcoming game

This mostly comes in the form of game modes, skins, and operators, but we often see a crossover with another major IP that isn't limited to cosmetics. This could be in the form of an in-game event, a limited time game mode, or something else. Just a few hours ago, Call of Duty announced a crossover with the hit Netflix series Squid Game.

Squid Game was a huge hit when it came out in 2021. It's also among the top pieces of Covid-era content we've gotten, so it has some staying power. With the second season of the South Korean show set to release on December 26, the two have teamed up to collaborate on the game. A short teaser was revealed for the collaboration, which will arrive sometime in January 2025.

The trailer reveals an operator tearing off a piece of paper with a circle, triangle and square drawn on it from a freshly killed corpse. This results in the Call of Duty logo appearing in the same format as the Squid Game logo. We don't have more information about it yet.

Just adding the red suits from the show to the game would be pretty disappointing after this trailer. If we hope, we want to see Call of Duty players playing Red Light Green Light, walking across the glass bridge, and playing other deadly games that we've seen on the show. This will be a great limited time event and will no doubt get some players to check out the show.

Black Ops 6 recently added Prop Hunt to its list of game modes. While this format is popular with players across different games, it seems COD players aren't too happy with it. Hunters seem to have unlimited ammo so they can wildly spray locations and get lucky by hitting props. Hopefully Activision will make some changes soon.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 1990s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as the sole superpower. With a stunning narrative and unfettered rules of engagement, this is quintessential Black Ops.
