Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 33 once again highlighted Mikio Ikemoto's incredible strength as a writer when it comes to delivering exposition and fleshing out the supporting cast properly. Naruto fans know very well that Masashi Kishimoto had tremendous problems when it came to fleshing out the main cast of Konoha in the last installments of the series, but this has now become the series' greatest asset. Boruto. In the latest Mamushi arc, which finally saw the fall of Shinju Mamushi, Boruto gave exciting roles to the vast majority of the supporting cast, but especially Inojin Yamanaka, who became the surprise MVP of this incredible arc and exceeded all expectations.

Breaking down Kishimoto's lack of time for the main supporting cast
Masashi Kishimoto is a great writer, and there's no denying that. He wrote a great story in Naruto that will be immortalized and remembered for centuries. However, Kishimoto's story has its faults, just like any other story, and for him one of the biggest is trying to deal with multiple characters. Masashi Kishimoto fell terribly short of his main supporting cast in the Naruto series.
The vast majority of Konoha 11 and the rest of the teams were barely involved in the plot in the second half, and even in the war they were left largely undeveloped. This is one of the biggest flaws in Kishimoto's story and something that the Boruto manga managed to fix.
How Inojin Yamanaka's characterization in the Mamushi arc resolves the predecessor's glaring issues
In the original Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga, Mikio Ikemoto didn't highlight the supporting characters that much, but Two Blue Vortex does wonders in this regard. The latest Mamushi arc, which just concluded with Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 33, finally focused on the members of Team 10, namely Inojin Yamanaka. At the beginning of this arc, Inojin was asked to develop a new jutsu and he did so brilliantly, creating an almost sonar detection system that far surpasses Konoha's own barriers that have existed for decades.
I have to do it. I armed myself to do what was necessary! — Inojin Yamanaka, Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter 33
If that alone wasn't enough, Inojin was the main reason why Shinju Mamushi was even defeated in Chapter 33. He strengthened his resolve and showed himself to be a truer shinobi than the vast majority of the Boruto cast. Immediately, Inojin was summoned to the battlefield, used a Mind Transfer Jutsu on one of the Mamushi and directed killing intent at Daemon, forcing everyone else to do the same. As the killing intent caused Mamushi's eyes to explode, it essentially ended Shinju as a whole. All that said, it didn't come at a small price; Inojin also lost his own eyes in the process, proving that even though he knew he would be blinded, he was willing to take that risk and prove himself as a true ninja.

Other supporting characters that Ikemoto focuses on
Inojin Yamanaka is certainly one of the best characters in Two Blue Vortex so far, but she's not the only supporting character that gets exposure in this story. The Two Blue Vortex manga also developed Himawari Uzumaki brilliantly and continues to focus on the likes of Sarada Uchiha despite both being ignored for the first half of the story.
Likewise, other characters like Eida and Daemon get their fair share of attention, and it's highly likely that other side characters like Shikadai and Chocho, along with the likes of Konohamaru, will get development. The Boruto the series has handled the supporting cast very well for the most part, and even if fans still complain about characters like Konohamaru, things will fall into place over time. This was proven again with the development of Inojin in Two Blue Vortex Chapter 33, and more exciting things will follow in the next manga chapter of the story.
