This article contains spoilers for Boruto and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
More than a decade ago, fans were saddened when one of the greatest shonen series of all time Narutohe concluded. However, when a sequel was announced, hope dawned again in the community. Boruto He got off to a cheerful start with a film written by Kishimoto himself. Years later, however, it became clear that Boruto did not live up to expectations, and if anything, it tarnished the legacy of some characters from the original series. While Boruto is fun and definitely exciting in its own way, it largely failed Naruto sequel and its sales continue to decline without Naruto and Sasuke playing a role.
At the same time, Jujutsu Kaisen just got its own sequel called Jujutsu Kaisen module. While it's hard to fully judge how this series will do in the long run, fans are loving it so far. Modulo was able to introduce its own fresh and lovable cast along with tremendous word building without relying on old characters to necessarily lift it up.
Boruto couldn't live up to Naruto's standard
JJK Modulo has proven to be a wonderful sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen
Boruto is Naruto's official sequel series. After Naruto ended in 2014, Boruto began serialization in 2016, just two years later. However, the key difference between the two series is that Boruto was not actually written by Kishimoto, the original creator. Instead, it is written by his former editor Mikio Ikemoto. This means that Kishimoto oversees everything that happens in the story. While fans were definitely excited about what the next generation of Naruto's world had in store, the series was largely a disappointment for most fans of the original series.
The Boruto manga relied on the rise in popularity of old characters, mostly Naruto and Sasuke. The new cast that came in wasn't strong enough to grab the attention of fans, except for characters like Kawaki and Boruto. Worst of all, the legacy of the old characters was destroyed in Boruto because the series kept using them as a springboard for new characters. Naruto and Kurama's bond was broken and Sasuke's Rinnegan was taken from him. Sakura never did anything major in the sequel, with the second Kage also making a cameo.
Speaking of sequels, a new one started not too long ago for another huge Shonen Jump series, and it was actually a huge success. When Jujutsu Kaisen ended, fans were sure the franchise didn't have much of a future, but out of the blue, Gege Akutami revealed a sequel to the series called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. With only a few chapters in, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has fans falling in love with it and some would even say that its writing is better than the original as Gege has grown tremendously in manga writing.
While some old characters are mentioned and some might return like Yuji, most of the heavy lifting is done by the new trio of Yuka, Tsurugi and Maru. They are cute enough to carry the plot on their own and the new lore introduced in the story is absolutely top notch. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is the perfect sequel to Gege's dark and brutal first seriesand lives up to all the expectations that the original series set.
Another interesting detail is that both Boruto and Jujutsu Kaisen module represent aliens, but it turns out that Modulo can actually represent these alien creatures correctly. Their race, culture, location, way of life, and their reasons for doing what they do are all under scrutiny in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and the best part is that it still feels like part of the main story, which Boruto and Otsutsuki couldn't.
Boruto's sales continue to decline, and fans are worried about the future of the series
Boruto needs Naruto and Sasuke to return
Boruto is still a popular series but low sales are becoming more apparent. With each new volume of sales, they keep falling. The series culminated in major battles with Sasuke and Naruto, and has fallen off significantly since then.
Boruto Uzumaki and the rest of the new generation characters are faring much better Two blue swirlsbut they just don't have enough invested fans. The series only picks up after the two giants, Naruto and Sasuke, finally return.
If JJK Modulo It's hard to say how it will do in sales as the volume hasn't dropped yet, but other than that the writing for the series is flawless and every fan JJK absolutely loving it so far.
