However, to get the most out of it, you'll need to invest a lot in upgrades, and if you want a top-tier Heavy Bowgun build, you'll need to kill a lot of high-level monsters.

Of all the Heavy Bowgun variants available in Monster Hunter now, Griffon Blazooka is the bestthanks to its specialized Pierce ammunition. Its only real downside is that you'll have to wait for the events for the Black Diablos materials to become available. However, if you have enough parts to fully upgrade this weapon, you'll have an incredibly powerful ability to destroy body parts and briefly stun the enemy while your allies take them down.
Of course, with the best heavy bow on hand, you'll need a wide variety of accessories to maximize its effectiveness. Your main focus should be gain the maximum rank perk Reload Speedas it will greatly help with Black Diablos main drawback. You will also want to get several lines of Partbreakers as Pierce Ammo moves through your enemy, meaning more chances to trigger this perk. Artful Dodger can be handy if you find dodging a little tricky and it's worth trying perfect dodge which boosts the power of your currently charged shots.

There are a total of five Driftsmelt slots available with our heavy bow build. While you have to wait until you reach level 8 to get the last one, the other four are available once each piece of armor reaches level 5, which shouldn't take long at all. Forging Driftstones requires a bit of luck it's random what you get when forging stonesbut here are our recommendations to aim for, from rarest to most common.
- Windproof – Reduces or negates the effects of wind pressure. It increases to a maximum that negates both small and strong wind pressure. (crimson only)
- Vibration resistance – Negates weak tremors. Rank 2 also reduces the effects of strong shocks, while Rank 3 negates them (Azure only)
- Concentration – Increases the filling speed of the special gauge. It will add 5% or 10% per review, so the overall fill rate will increase by 30%. (Azure only)
- Burst – Landing consecutive hits in a short period of time increases your weapon's attack power for 4 seconds. It starts at 5% for position 1 and increases up to a maximum of 30% at position 5. (amber only)
- Divine blessing – Gives a chance to reduce the damage caused by a monster's attack. Rank 1 gives a 30% chance to reduce damage by 50%, while rank 5 gives a 50% chance to reduce damage by 80%. (amber only)
- Special Boost – Increases the damage of special skills. Rank 1 increases by 10%, while Rank 5 increases by 30%. (pale only)
- Attack boost – Increases base attack power. Starts at 20, adds 20 per rank up to a max attack power of 120. (Any Driftstone)
- Aggressive Dodger – Increases the damage of any attack made after a perfect escape. Adds 10% per rating up to a maximum of 60%. (Any Driftstone)
