CD Projekt Red has dashed the hopes of Cyberpunk 2077 fans hoping for a PS5 Pro update.
-
In a tweet via the game's official Twitter account, CD Projekt Red explained that it has “no plans” to update the PS5 Pro.
-
This is probably because there are literally no developers working on Cyberpunk 2077 anymore, having moved on to other projects like The Witcher 4.
Cyberpunk 2077 is easily one of the best looking games on the PS5 right now, and just one short trip through the streets of Night City makes it clear that developer CD Projekt Red has put everything into making it look as good as it does. In fact, it's a game that manages to look as good as possible, even having a Ray Tracing Overdrive mode for fans to melt their PCs with.
So it's slightly surprising that CD Projekt Red doesn't seem keen to take advantage of the PS5 Pro's improved performance. An upgrade or update to the console game has been highly requested by fans for quite some time, and after someone directly asked the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account if it was in the works, their hopes were shot down very quickly and firmly.
Cyberpunk 2077 will not be getting a PS5 Pro update
In response to this fan, CD Projekt Red simply states that “currently [has] no plans” to fix the PS5 Pro, I'm ending the conversation before it's even started. I think the word “currently” kind of suggests that it's possible that it could come in the future, but it feels like a bit of a cop-out. I'll be honest in assuming that it just never happens, which isn't a bad thing because the game still runs and looks damn good.

It's also worth noting that CD Projekt Red is currently very busy with other games. In fact, it turns out that there are literally zero developers still working on Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment, with the vast majority of the studio currently working on The Witcher 4. The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has a handful of developers currently working on it, while a handful are working on other titles.
CD Projekt Red provided these numbers back in May, though it's hard to see how the studio's labor situation would have changed between now and then. If anything, they're probably happy to move on to other things since they've been working on the title for about a decade. Let the poor work on something new.
Developed by CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person action RPG based on the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk. You must choose your path through life in the lawless Night City while dealing with the memories of Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves).
