Bend Studio says it still has plans to make “cool sh*t” after PlayStation canceled its live-action game. The unannounced project has been scrapped along with Bluepoint Games' God of War title as Sony overhauls its live service strategy.
It's currently unclear what Bend Studio is working on and if it has any games in development besides the now canceled live service. Its last new release was Days Gone in 2019, though it ported the game to PC in 2021.
Bend Studio says it still has plans after PlayStation cancels its live service
The team reportedly found out about the cancellation at the same time we did
As noted by VGC, this was tweeted by Bend Studio Community Manager Kevin McAllister. Here, he thanked the community for the “love and support” following the news that the studio's latest game had been cancelled, adding that “We still plan to make cool sh*t.”
Earlier today it was announced that both Bend and Bluepoint were blindsided by the decision to cancel their live services. Apparently they found out about the same time we did, and now Sony has to pitch another project when they don't have these huge games to work on.
The reason for these cancellations has not been shared publicly, but it is also reported that the move comes in response to Concorde's failure. The live service was shut down after just two weeks, and after plans to revive it were scrapped, Sony shut down its developer Firewalk Studios. Not surprisingly, Sony wanted to avoid another such incident.
However, as we noted the other day, Bend seems to have stopped hiring new employees. Until recently she had seven vacancies and it seems that these were canceled after her live service was cancelled.

In Days Gone, a PlayStation 4 exclusive at launch, you play as Deacon St. John, a biker outlaw who must find his missing wife in a post-apocalyptic world. It features a vast area of the Pacific Northwest with various camps and missions to complete along the way.
