Bungie reveals ambitious plans for a complete overhaul Fate 2An armor system with Codename: Frontiers that reworks stat values while adding archetypes and bonuses. The countdown is now on as Episode Revenant is officially set to launch next week on October 8th. However, Bungie has revealed a lot of new information about the upcoming Fate 2 an episode that helps set player expectations.
This week was a big one for fans as Bungie's latest preview put the spotlight on Episode Revenant and all the new ones Fate 2 contents. In addition to making the entire Act 1 story available at launch, players will interact with characters such as Mithrax and Eido while performing a new potion-brewing mechanic that offers limited-time combat bonuses. In addition to new weapons and armor, Bungie is adding Onslaught: Salvation, an updated version of the activity that adds new enemy types with three maps and additional twists to make the mode stand out a bit more. However, alongside the showcase, Bungie also revealed new details regarding the studio's long-term plans to overhaul the current armor system.
In a new developer blog, Bungie has confirmed an upcoming major overhaul Fate 2The current armor system along with the release of Codename: Frontiers next summer. To make the armor system less confusing and a more active part of buildcrafting, Bungie is completely overhauling the stat mechanics to hopefully prevent what the studio calls a “lock-in” effect when the player finds the perfect combination of stat values. Stat effects will be capped at 200 and will no longer offer tiered bonuses every 10 points. Some stats are also seeing bigger changes, like Strength and Discipline, and Bungie has even confirmed that some legendary armor will have Stat Archetypes baked in to offer bonuses to specific types.
Destiny 2 Armor Rework also adds set bonuses
In addition to these stat changes, Bungie has also confirmed the introduction of Set Bonus modifiers. With Codename: Frontier, armor leans more into themes, offering players bonuses for having 2 or 4 pieces equipped at the same time. The perks themselves highlight specific playstyles and have been integrated to suit the players who use them Fate 2also extensive exotic armor. Although they are subject to change, Bungie has given a few examples of what it's producing:
Topic |
Perk 1 (2 pieces of armor) |
Perk 2 (4 pieces of armor) |
Tex Mechanics |
Shooting from the side increases movement speed and weapon handling. Scoring hits increases the effect. |
Tex Mechanica weapons have increased range and accuracy when firing from the side. |
Nonstop aggression |
Final hits with freshly loaded weapons heal the player. |
Damaging a target with a shotgun or fusion rifle temporarily increases the damage taken by those weapons. |
Demolition expert |
Direct hits with explosive weapons temporarily increase their reload speed. |
Repeated direct hits with explosive weapons temporarily increase the damage of the grenade ability. |
Vanguard employee |
Activating the grenade grants you and nearby allies damage resistance against fighters. |
Defeating champions with a finisher generates special ammo for the player and their fireteam. |
Naturally, Bungie anticipated a number of player questions as a result of these changes. Bungie has confirmed that exotic armor will largely be left alone for now, though the studio is planning one meaningful update as part of the plan. The old armor won't see much change either, although stats and types are global changes, players will probably notice a few improvements. One of the big problems with Fate 2 is vault space, with Bungie confirming that it recognizes that “vault pressure” is a real problem for many players. While the studio considers adding more space, the team is looking at longer-term solutions that they hope will be resolved by the time the second expansion, Codename:Behemoth, is ready to launch.
