A $55 billion buyout EA Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) has caught the attention of a cosplay group that plans to march on EA's Redwood City headquarters to protest the deal. A group called Players Alliance HQ took to social media to reveal what they plan to do once they arrive at EA's campus.
In September 2025, EA confirmed it would go private amid a pending $55 billion buyout by a consortium group consisting of PIF, Affinity Partners and Silver Lake. Affinity Partners is an investment firm that has previously received funding from the Saudi Arabian government and is led by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump. However, the leveraged buyout has been reviewed by various groups and is still subject to regulatory approval by the US government and similar entities.

EA's Redwood City campus will become the site of a protest raid
Despite EA's efforts to quell concerns from its player base, that hasn't stopped protests against the deal from surfacing. One such protest group, called Players Alliance HQ, said it would “storm” EA's main campus in Redwood City, California, to launch a petition in hopes of blocking the deal. The Players Alliance headquarters announced that the protest will begin on Monday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. PT. Content creator SlayerKase revealed via an Instagram post what the Players Alliance HQ will be doing once it arrives at EA's Redwood City headquarters. SlayerKase reported that protesters plan to unfurl a 50-foot-long scroll containing over 70,000 signatures as a petition to block EA's buyout. The scroll would unfold to Madden NFL football field on the EA campus.

Since the Players Alliance HQ is a cosplay group, the protesters plan to show up in a variety of outfits that depict EA's corporate infrastructure as villains. SlayerKase said he plans to attend and stream the protest on his Twitch channel. Sims 4 content creator and Twitch partner Zefrine said in a separate Instagram post that she will also be personally streaming her take on the EA protest. The Players Alliance headquarters claimed in its mission statement that EA CEO Andrew Wilson “was paid 260 times more than the average EA employee while the company laid off thousands of developers.” HQ Players Alliance has also expressed concern that EA's shutdown of various game servers and continued use of loot boxes in its modern titles is robbing consumers of their games and their money.
The EA deal is far from done
However, the HQ Players Alliance isn't the only group protesting EA's pending buyout. US House Representative Maxwell Frost (D-FL) joined Zefrine and former EA Creator Network member Lilsimsie on a live stream to protest EA's buyout and raise awareness with their audience. Frost is currently the youngest member of the United States Congress at the age of 29, and is also a member of the US House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

In late 2025, two members of the United States Senate also expressed national security concerns about EA's buyout. Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said the EA buyout would allow PIF to use its position to gain influence and potentially access to sensitive data about EA's audience in the US and around the world. In short, EA's deal with PIF is far from done.
