EA Sports has confirmed that a new patch update for its popular fighting game, UFC 5will be released on September 26, adding Chase Hooper and Lerone Murphy to the game's extensive list of mixed martial artists. The patch will be available for download on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at approximately 10am PT, with new balance tweaks and two new fighters for UFC 5 players to log out.

With a 2023 release, developer EA Vancouver has promised fans that it will continue to add new fighters UFC 5 regularly. With the latest patch now confirmed to drop in September, fans will be able to download a free content update and play as lightweight star Chase Hooper and 33-year-old featherweight Lerone Murphy, who is currently ranked twelfth in the division. In addition to adding two new fighters, update 1.14 also brings several new adjustments and balance fixes to ensure a smooth gameplay experience for both grapplers and attackers.


Before launching the latest update, EA released two pieces of news UFC 5 alter egos for Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega on September 25. The two had a five-round war in 2021 at UFC 226, with Volkanovski winning by unanimous decision. To celebrate the three-year anniversary of the epic battle, EA is celebrating with a new “on this day” series of alter egos that aim to capture the fighters as they were on the day they fought.


As for the new fighters being released with patch 1.14, fans will be able to check out lightweight Chase Hooper, who is only 25 years old but is known for being a dangerous grappler and will be a great pick for anyone. UFC 5 the player who wants to win the serve wins. Then there's Lerone Murphy, who recently made his way up the UFC featherweight rankings, where he sits at number twelve. Not only does Murphy have a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but he also has an explosive stand-up game and plenty of stamina.

Game update

  • Fixed an issue that allowed the fighter to partially block the lead hook's special block counter after using an advancing gliding rear hook.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Submissive Rubber Guard's Triangle entry to be unavailable when it had a large stamina advantage.
  • Reduced the stamina advantage requirement for some ground transitions:
    • Smash Pass from Dominant Full Guard to Side Control from 25 to 10.
      • This happens when the submissive hips out to one side and then the dominant, who moves second, goes to the other side. This requires Wrestling Transitions.
    • Side Control Sweep from 70 to 50.
      • This is an accidental movement that stems from the transition of the hips into half-alert. It requires Wrestling Sweeps and was also very rare due to the very high stamina requirement.
  • Fixed camera issue when completing Heel Hook.
