Dragon Ball is now a 40 year old series. The series was first published in 1984 by the late mangaka of the series that passed earlier this year, Akira Toriyama.

In commemoration of this major series milestone, Dragon Ball Super The Gallery project took place.

Eiichiro Oda, manga artist One pieceparticipated in it. For his contribution, he redrawn the manga cover of Dragon Ball Volume 42. This cover features Goku, the main character of Dragon Ball.

Oda's relationship with Toriyama

Oda has always admired Toriyama, even going so far as to claim that he was God. One Piece, his work, is heavily inspired by Toriyama's Dragon Ball, as is most Shonen manga, due to the revolutionary effect it had on the industry as a whole.

Toriyama's death was a major news story earlier this year, affecting many people who loved the series.

“I bought the first volume of the Dragon Ball manga series in elementary school, but I didn't buy the second volume! I always read the chapters through the WSJ magazine, and when the last volume 42 came out, I went to the bookstore and saw it, but I didn't buy it it. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to redraw it And now I wish I could buy this volume while Toriyama-sensei is still alive” — Eiichiro Oda!
