Fans are falling for GTA 6 Scalpers for no reason

Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders are already relisted by scalpers with slight markups. Although there is little practical reason to pay above retail price for a game that remains widely available through official channels, some fans seem to be buying an overpriced game. GTA 6 listings anyway.

Despite the lack of scarcity that typically allows for scalping, some sellers are already trying to flip GTA 6 download codes. Even more surprising is that they appear to be successful to some, based on several listings from late June 2026 on eBay marked as “recently completed”. These sales include the digital-only Ultimate Edition, which retails for up to $101.19, a markup of just $1.20. Standard edition listings also reportedly ended at prices as high as $93.22, giving scalpers a gross premium of $13.23 excluding platform fees. None of the realized prices listed on eBay include potential shipping costs that buyers would have to pay for “physical” copies GTA 6 which are effectively packaged download codes.

These deals aren't mislabeled, but they seem to cater to impulse buys. Misleading and marked listings emphasize that there is no reason to pre-order GTA 6 through eBay sellers.

Rockstar's decision not to release GTA 6 on disc at launch may stem from an attempt to prevent retailers from violating the game's date, an issue that has affected Nintendo releases and many other major games over the years. According to a recent report from Polish outlet PPE, a full physical release may be scheduled for December 2026, a few weeks after the game's digital launch.

Meanwhile, Rockstar is creating incentives GTA 6 pre-orders in two main ways. The first is the Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes “decadent” hairstyles and outfits for Jason and Lucia, along with a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and accompanying garage. Each pre-order also includes a free month of GTA+, redeemable only in GTA Online. GTA 6 it won't launch itself with a multiplayer mode that should arrive after release.
