GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25. Rockstar has split its pre-order into two editions: Standard and Ultimate. Contrary to the company's usual approach, neither edition is available on disc. The Standard Edition can technically be pre-ordered in boxed form, but only contains a download code. The result is a virtually unlimited supply of pre-order copies on both PlayStation and Xbox.

Scalpers are successfully selling tagged GTA 6 download codes on eBay
Despite the lack of scarcity that typically allows for scalping, some sellers are already trying to flip GTA 6 download codes. Even more surprising is that they appear to be successful to some, based on several listings from late June 2026 on eBay marked as “recently completed”. These sales include the digital-only Ultimate Edition, which retails for up to $101.19, a markup of just $1.20. Standard edition listings also reportedly ended at prices as high as $93.22, giving scalpers a gross premium of $13.23 excluding platform fees. None of the realized prices listed on eBay include potential shipping costs that buyers would have to pay for “physical” copies GTA 6 which are effectively packaged download codes.

That limited success GTA 6 eBay scalpers seem likely to come mostly from buyers who are unaware of the official pre-order options. Still, publicly available data suggests the resale market remains small, with less than a dozen sold listings recorded in the first 36 hours after pre-orders opened. Separately, some sellers on eBay appear to list individual box covers for $79.99, matching the price GTA 6 Standard Edition in an apparent attempt to trick buyers into mistaking them for genuine copies of the game. These deals aren't mislabeled, but they seem to cater to impulse buys. Misleading and marked listings emphasize that there is no reason to pre-order GTA 6 through eBay sellers.
Rockstar's decision not to release GTA 6 on disc at launch may stem from an attempt to prevent retailers from violating the game's date, an issue that has affected Nintendo releases and many other major games over the years. According to a recent report from Polish outlet PPE, a full physical release may be scheduled for December 2026, a few weeks after the game's digital launch.
Meanwhile, Rockstar is creating incentives GTA 6 pre-orders in two main ways. The first is the Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes “decadent” hairstyles and outfits for Jason and Lucia, along with a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and accompanying garage. Each pre-order also includes a free month of GTA+, redeemable only in GTA Online. GTA 6 it won't launch itself with a multiplayer mode that should arrive after release. While GTA+ could theoretically carry over to the new multiplayer offering, the pre-order bonus must be claimed by March 31, 2027. It remains unclear whether GTA 6 version GTA Online it will arrive by then, though its predecessor's release cadence suggests it probably will.
