Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 News Promised For “Not Too Distant Future”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi told fans to expect news of the long-awaited and somehow still untitled Part 3 in the “not-too-distant future.”

While it may seem like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched not too long ago, we're actually fast approaching the game's two-year anniversary. With that in mind, fans are starting to wonder when we might finally get an update for the third and final game in the remake trilogy.

Square Enix and the developers behind Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have been surprisingly candid in the past about how the game's development is progressing, although we haven't seen anything concrete yet. However, that may change sooner than we thought, as the game director recently promised that news is on the way.

Apparently we won't have to wait long for Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 News

My bet is the reveal at The Game Awards 2025

Cloud Strife holds his head in pain while grasping the Black Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

As reported by GamesRadar+, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi recently attended the “Echoes of Midgar” panel at MCM Comic Con London 2025. During the panel, Hamaguchi was rather awkwardly asked by a fan if Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 had been talked about or canceled last year, and despite how open she was.

In response, Hamaguchi confirmed that this had not happened and that the team was “working very hard on the third part of the trilogy”. While this may have ended up being a nonsensical answer to a strange question, Hamaguchi went further by noting that Square Enix aims to get the news to fans “in the not-too-distant future.”

That wasn't all Hamaguchi had to say either, as he emphasized his point by revealing that he would be playing some of the completed levels of Part 3 after the panel. If that doesn't instill some confidence in how the development of the remake's conclusion continues, then I don't know what will.

With some kind of update apparently in the works for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, it's safe to assume we'll be hearing about it before the end of the year. It's a mystery at the moment, but I'm betting there will be some kind of reveal at this year's Game Awards in December.
