Final Fantasy 7 Revelation's official release window is perfect

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is slated for spring 2027, a release date that officially marks the end of the ambitious remake project. Of course there could be some spin-offs or DLC Final Fantasy 7 Revelationbut for the most part, the game will occupy Square Enix expensive and impressive FF7 a remake of the saga that started in 2020 with the aptly titled first entry Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Through the soon-to-be-completed trilogy, Square Enix managed to introduce Final Fantasy VII world and story to a whole new audience while appealing to fans of the original PS1 classic. Released in 1997, Final Fantasy VII's cultural impact can be compared to releases such as Metal Gear Solid and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timein the sense that it redefined what was possible in the gaming medium and set a new standard for narrative power, presentation and ingenuity. It's funny to look back at the original game now, nearly 30 years later, as it's obviously dated by modern standards, with pre-rendered backgrounds and simplistic character models, but such perceived flaws tend to melt away when you're hands on with the game. All this means that the original FF7 is a landmark title in its own right and deserves to be celebrated when it turns 30 next year.

Square Enix has not officially announced a specific release date Final Fantasy 7 Revelationit only confirms that it's targeting a spring 2027 launch window. Even so, that relatively wide window seems particularly appropriate, as it would place the game squarely between the game's various launch dates of 1997. original Final Fantasy VII first launched in late January 1997, but only in Japan; its North American version was not released until September of that year, and the PAL version (territories outside of Japan and NA such as Oceania and Europe) came shortly after in November.

At the risk of sounding reductive, we can say that Final Fantasy VIIThe Japanese launch was right in the middle of the winter season, while its global launch averages to mid-autumn. Hard to know if Square Enix originally planned to finish Final Fantasy VII remake project during the original game's 30th anniversary, but it's definitely a fitting result. Few games have had such a huge and indelible impact on the gaming landscape as Final Fantasy VIIand while not everyone loves remakes, it's clear that they're more of a celebration of the original than replacements. In other words, FF7 remakes are made with love and respect for their 1997 predecessor, so bringing the remake saga to a close on such a momentous “birthday” couldn't be more perfect.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation release window narrowing

If you're like me, you're probably trying to get more information about Final Fantasy 7 Revelationincluding its specific release date. For a quick refresher, the spring release period is generally defined by the following dates:
