Now that the multiplayer game is entering Season 2 of its online co-op content, players will gain access to a new playable character when one of the game's key heroines, Fuuka Shinozaki, joins the roster on January 9th. Official Twitter account for Sword Art Online the video game franchise revealed the character with a short gameplay clip showing off some of her combat abilities, which appear to include a combination of ranged magical attacks and area-of-effect damage that aid the player in combat.

According to the post, all players need to do to unlock Fuuka as a playable character is to complete the main story quest in Broken Daydream which will seemingly be available at the start of the season. However, before fans can enjoy the new content that will come with the upcoming season, they will have to wait for the game's upcoming scheduled maintenance to begin on January 8, with Season 2 expected to begin the day after.
Of course, SAO Fractured Daydream is only the latest video game outing from the massively popular anime franchise, as the series has spawned a large number of games in both the co-op and single-player genres. Recently, the series even saw the return of a mobile title Sword Art Online: Variant Showdown after a lot of bug fixes and maintenance after the game initially failed with fans.
Either way, between the new content in its latest games and plenty of other RPGs based on content from the original anime spanning several seasons, there's no shortage of material for fans to enjoy.
