Journalist Jason Schreier has shared his predictions for the gaming industry in 2025, and it's a mix of good and bad news for everyone. Writing in Bloomberg, he now believes Grand Theft Auto 6 will miss its planned 2025 release and instead be pushed back to 2026.
However, he also believes that we'll see two huge industry-shaking news this year: the launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong and the announcement of Half-Life 3. If even one of these stories turns out to be true, then it's going to be a huge year for gaming.

Bad news for GTA 6 fans, good news for everyone else
In his article, Schreier explains his reasons for predicting that GTA 6 will not be released in 2025. the last months of development avoid excessive overtime,” he says. “I expect it to slip to 2026.”
If the delay helps avoid crises, then this is not too surprising. Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed, even so, reportedly requiring developers to work overtime to deliver the game. With GTA 6 having so much success, it's going to need as much time in the oven as it can get.
However, if Schreier's other predictions prove accurate, then 2025 will be a huge year. He feels that Silksong will finally come out this year and sell very well. That would be about six years after its reveal, and a few years after we thought it might come out in 2023, following its teaser at the 2022 Xbox showcase.
Furthermore, Schreier also believes that 2025 will finally be the year that Half-Life 3 is confirmed. The gaming community has been waiting for this for so long that it's become a running joke, so a real official reveal would be the highlight of the year.
We'll have to wait and see if these predictions pan out. Right now, though, GTA 6 is still slated for 2025, Silksong has no release date, and Half-Life 3 only exists in our dreams.
