FromSoftware's Rumored Pirate Game should definitely be more Bloodborne than Elden Ring

FromSoftware has become one of the most popular developers in the industry, and a new round of rumors makes some really exciting claims about one of his next games. The developer is known to be working on his Nintendo exclusive project, Duskbloodsbut these new rumors say that FromSoftware is actually working on a secret pirated game as well. FromSoftware hasn't confirmed or denied anything, so the potential project should be viewed with great skepticism until it's actually revealed.

Even if the rumors of a pirated game from FromSoftware turned out to be a bust, I thought about what the ideal version of this project should look like. Everyone has their own opinion, but Bloody is still the highlight of FromSoftware for me. Elden Ring may be the developer's latest game, but it doesn't sit well with me in some key ways, so I hope this would-be pirate game looks to FromSoftware's older titles for inspiration instead of its massive open-world fantasy.

The 15 best games from FromSoftware, ranked

FromSoftware's long list of games is full of excellence. From Dark Souls to Armored Core 6 and Nightreign, here's how the best titles rank.

Elden Ring's open world could definitely work for a pirate game, but it needs to adopt the narrower focus of Bloodborne

Rumors about the pirate game don't reveal many details, but they do at least mention that the main mechanic will be sailing the seas and exploring islands. This isn't necessarily experienced through the open world map, but in that sense it's probably a better way to go. However, a great open world game doesn't need to boast a massive map. Elden Ringmap size is comparable GTA 5's map and sometimes it feels like overkill. I know it's super subjective. Some people really love massive maps. Crimson Desert's map is one of the latest games to prove how much some players love to travel across vast landscapes, but FromSoftware's strengths play better in tighter worlds.

Even just a little smaller than Elden RingMap size would be a step in the right direction. There are plenty of games with larger maps than Elden Ring which are fantastic but one of the many things that do Bloody it's so replayable that its smaller size motivates you to come back because it's not as daunting. A happy balance between Elden Ring and Bloodysize would be ideal. Yharnam's interlocking design can be expanded a bit larger to accommodate maritime adventures.

Bloodborne's Combat is better suited for a pirate adventure

I liked it Elden Ringfight. A more methodical approach to boss fights can be really satisfying, but BloodyFast combat is simply better for pirates. Bloody is a more aggressive game, but this is not the only thing that should affect the gameplay of the pirate project. Less design diversity is actually an advantage. Like his map, Elden RingWeapons go above and beyond when it comes to trying to give players an all in one experience. However, bigger does not always mean better. BloodyThe smaller weapon list may not be as freedom-focused, but each weapon looks and feels incredibly unique. The designs are more thoughtful, which adds a deeper personality Bloodyworld.

Two words… Gun Parry

One of the most satisfying parts about learning BloodyCombat mechanics are getting the hang of weapon recoil. There are tons of insanely tough fights Bloodyand the recoil of the gun is so good once you nail it for the first time. Instead of defending, it encourages rebounding for more intense encounters and is a solid adrenaline rush.

If FromSoftware is indeed working on a pirated game, then some weapons must be thrown into the weapon list. A pirate game without any weapons would be really shocking. Of course, it also sounds like something FromSoftware would consider doing just to subvert expectations. If the guns are included in FromSoftware's next game, hopefully that would also mark the return of the game BloodyWeapon recoil mechanic. The parry system could potentially be even better.

Giving space horror Bloodborne a Pirate Twist is too good a combo to pass up

Pirates and space Lovecraftian horror would be a dream come true for many gamers. There are some great Lovecraft-inspired games out there, but FromSoftware's pirate game inspired by the genre has the potential to be the pinnacle of this kind of adaptation. FromSoftware has proven itself Bloody that he can absolutely nail the terrifyingly bleak worlds that are cosmically doomed. Elden Ring's Lands Between is a beautiful world. It can also be really peaceful when the character's life isn't in danger. A peaceful pirate game is by no means a bad thing, but there aren't enough stories that tried to combine pirates and horror. There is so much potential for this kind of genre crossover, and FromSoftware is the perfect developer to see it.

Another pirate game already has Sunny Vibes covered

One of the most anticipated releases right now is Assassin's Creed Black Flag re-synced. This Assassin's Creed entry is not only considered one of the best in the franchise. Considered by many to be one of the best pirate games of all time, it has some great features. Assassin's Creed Black FlagThe release date is also just around the corner. It's unknown when FromSoftware plans to address the rumors of its pirated game, but hopefully it's soon. If a developer jumps into the pirate world, it must feel very different from it Black flag re-synced.

I guess I'm falling into the trap of wishful thinking here, but what the hell Black flag re-synced is a sunny and lively experience, and FromSoftware complements it with its opposite, which sounds like an ideal scenario. It would truly be the best of both worlds when it comes to great pirate games. Pirates generally don't get the love they deserve, and Black flag re-synced and the famous FromSoftware project will hopefully change that.

Other pirate games like Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and Return to Monkey Islandwere great in their own right but Black flag re-synced and FromSoftware could start a renaissance. All that can be done right now is to wait and see if FromSoftware actually has a pirated project cooking in the oven. If so, let's hope it fully utilizes the potential that a Bloody– An inspired space horror game has it all.
