Halo: Campaign Evolved has confirmed that it's making significant changes to The Library's mission in the upcoming remake. The library is often touted as the worst mission in the original game and Halo: Campaign Evolved takes the opportunity to right those wrongs 25 years later.
IN Halo: Combat EvolvedThe Library pits players against waves of the Flood in corridors that look almost identical to each other. It's not that interesting, it's one of the hardest Halo levels as a result and frankly it gets old after a while. While most of the game is excellent, The Library stands out, and now Halo Studios has the perfect chance to right their wrongs.
Halo: Campaign Evolved fixes the library 25 years later
The latest Xbox Wire focuses on solving gamers' questions Halo: Campaign Evolvedand one hot topic was how the levels compared to the original Hello: CE will change in the remake. While Halo Studios “took great care not to modernize for the sake of modernizing,” he uses The Library as “a perfect example of how the team thoughtfully enhances existing spaces in an authentic way.” His controversial position in Halo the series makes it “a key example of when it was right to make adjustments in several areas to create a new experience that balances nostalgia with the expectations of today's gamers”.
Max Szlagor, creative director of Halo Studios, said: “We learned from Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary that there is still an appetite for things like better wayfinding, navigation, and variety in enemy encounters. Specifically in the Library, which features several flood encounters, we wanted to rethink the pacing and improve the environmental storytelling. In Guilty Spark, we've added new lines to guide the player through the levels, and there's new dialogue that gives better insight into the story as it unfolds.” Halo: Campaign Evolved's announcement made it clear that such questions would be asked, and it's good to see the developer clear things up right away. It all sounds like a big step forward, assuming these levels develop in a positive way.
It's not the only way Halo: Campaign Evolved slightly deviates from the original. It was also confirmed that Hello 1 The remake will feature a sprint switch, a feature that has always been controversial among fans of the series. Still, this is a remake of what will soon be a 25-year-old game, so it's not surprising that some elements have to be altered to suit the modern gamer.
