Wagnas is the leader Romance Saga 2: Revenge of the Seventitular antagonists. However, just because he's the central villain doesn't mean you have to save him for the end, you can beat Wagnas fairly early on, although it will take a bit of ball trotting. However, no matter when you fight him, there's one thing you can be sure of: if you show up unprepared for this fight, you're in for a bad time.

Romancing Saga 2: Revenge Of The Seven – How To Defeat Subiero
This Romancing Saga 2: Revenge Of The Seven boss is the master of the Frozen Sea. We'll show you how to bury him there.
Not only is Wagnas a skilled mage, he has some extremely powerful magic attacks that range from a fire spell that hits your entire party to a powerful light magic spell that deals heavy damage to a cluster of party members. His magic is guaranteed to sour an unprepared party. This guide will tell you everything you need to know to get to Wagnas, as well as break down the combat itself for you.
Battle of Hakuro Castle
Once Hakuro Castle appears, you'll be ready to face Wagnas, the leader of the seven. Well, at least you'll be prepared for it confront him. Hakuro Castle appeared after I completed Sekishusai, the Loyal Retainer quest. After the time shift, The Battle of Castle Hakuro quest appeared. I suspect that's how you unlock this dungeon.
Once you enter Hakuro Castle, turn left, go through the gate, and go up the stairs. Exit the door to the right and follow the path straight until you see a battlemented door. Enter that door and you'll be in a huge room. At the far end is a door; go through that door – you'll obviously have to go around the guards stationed on either side.
Now head down the nearby stairs and run directly south to the next door. From there, simply head down the stairs and you'll be at the save point and almost ready to face the dungeon boss: The Black Legion.
Black Legion Boss Fight
This fight is against the Black Legion and also against two Mystics. Rapier's marionette technique is amazingly effective in this battle. Additionally, while the Black Legion is immune to most things, Paralysis can be disrupted.
Watch out for mystics as they are able to use powerful martial arts attacks and hit extremely hard. I found they used them a lot more when the Black Legion was dead so I would strongly recommend removing them first. However, if you keep stealing their moves with the marionette technique, this battle won't be too much of a challenge.
Once you defeat the Black Legion boss, Wagnas will show up and then immediately flee to his floating castle. That means you'll have to find your way up.
Reaching the Flying Castle
Now we'll have to get to Wagnas in his Floating Castle. There are two ways to do this, using Hirag's flying machine or having Iris fly you up. The Iris method doesn't make sense if you haven't unlocked them yet, as it's a lengthy quest that will have you traveling around the world. So we'll cover the Hiraga method instead. The first thing you need to do is head to Liangshan and Yuyan. Talk to the citizens using the quest marker.
After you talked to the people of Liangshan and Yuyan, head to Somon and talk to Hiraga. He will have a new invention that will be perfect for this task. Now simply head to Chonto Castle and you'll be able to use the Windwaker to reach the floating castle above. However, you'll want to make sure your party is okay before heading to the castle, because once you get there, you won't be able to leave.
If you haven't already paid Hirago to build the Leon Bridge, you'll need to do that first. Unfortunately, this means shelling out 1,000,000 crowns.
Preparing a party for Wagnas
The Wall of Fire spell is extremely useful when fighting Wagnasbecause it turns him off Firestorm attack. Make sure you have it equipped on your fastest party member. You need to find them to get the Wall of Fire spell Book of Fire and Earth I in the Steppe. The chest that holds the book is next to the two ladders (shown on the map), near the center of this area. The spell will need to be researched, so you'll need to do something to pass the time between getting it and confronting Wagnas, but once you have it, your life will be much easier, so I suggest you do just that.
in addition you'll want as many attacks as possible that have a water elementbecause there will be a fire laying. A character with the Firewall spell won't be able to have water magic equipped, but they can they still have techniques that use the water element. Of course, the Great Sword has plenty of them. Having characters with fire immunity is also super useful, so Having a Salamander in your party is a smart choice. Having a Fire Ring on hand will similarly make your life easier. As for weapons, you'll want to have characters that can handle swords, spears, axes, and bows.
If you bring a character with a bow, equip the Falling Phoenix technique if you have it. Wagnas is a flying creature, so it deals massive damage.
Attacks that hit multiple enemies are extremely useful for killing Animas in the second phase of the battle, especially if those attacks involve a water element. Barrage is a great bow attack for hitting multiple enemiesand is to unite attacks with Diamond Dust, which is a great ice spell to hit all enemies on the battlefield.
The Battle of the Floating Castle
Head straight and go up the stairs, avoid the living jelly and head out the door. You will now be on the outside path, avoid the dragons and head for the door on the other side. Now follow the corridor dodging the slimes as you do.
To your right will be a chest with a Vorpal Sword. Be warned, you'll have to fight the mime to get it.
Continue down this corridor, up the stairs and out the door and you'll be back outside. Turn right and climb some stairs. Taking a left after the door will bring you to a chest with a golden ore inside. Hook, go through the door and you'll be in a massive hall, head into the main room and turn left to go up the spiral stairs.
When you climb the stairs, if you head up the spiral stairs in the lower right corner, you'll be able to get two chests from the room below. There is another chest in the lower left corner. The spiral staircase in the northern part will lead to the 3rd floor. The door on this floor leads to a balcony where there is a chest of crowns. On the next floor you will leave through the door and you will be outside again.
There is a huge dragon outside, of course you don't have to fight them. However, if you decide to, know that they can be stunned Use this to steal their moves. Additionally, if you have the Wall of Fire spell for Wagnas, it will also cancel this dragon's big attack.. From there, go through the door and up the stairs. Wagnas is waiting for you at the top.
Before you face Wagnas, change your gear. He doesn't attack you with physical attacks, he only uses magic, so change your armor and get your magic defense as high as possible.
Wagnas Boss Battle
The fight with Wagnas has three phases…
-
In the first phase of the fight, you will simply have to contend with Wagnas and his repertoire of magical spells.
-
The second phase will introduce Wagnas' big attack: Firestorm. He will also see him summon the Blue and Red Animas to fight alongside him.
-
The third phase of Wagnas begins to use his powerful light magic spell: Sunray.
You're going to spend your time pounding Wagnas with your most powerful greatsword, spear, ax, and bow. Once you push him hard enough to enter his second form, you begin to cancel his Firestorm spell with your own Wall of Fire spell.
You'll want to hit Wagnas with a steady stream of water spells whenever his fire line is active, as this will heal him a huge amount at the end of each turn. His fire line activates every time the Firestorm spell is used.
The Firewall spell wears off after the wheel is cast, meaning that if you have the character that cast the spell last, it won't be active after the start of the next round. So pay attention to the order of moves.
Wagnas will now start summoning Animas to help him. Red Anima sacrifices itself to attack one ally, and Blue Anima sacrifices itself to attack a group of your allies. So try to take them out before they have a chance to use their sacrificial attacks with techniques that hit groups. If you can't take them all out, focus on taking out the blue anima above the red one.
Saving a Unite Attack when Wagnas summons Animas is a smart play, especially if you have some great Unite attacks that hit multiple enemies.
During the final part of the battle, Wagnas will do the same thing he did in the first two stages, but he won't start using the Sunray spell. So some form of light magic mitigation isn't a bad idea. Light Wall is a solid answer if you have nothing else. Luckily, by the time Wagnas uses the Sunray attack, he'll be pretty seriously injured. Just push and he will soon fall.
If you've made a terrible decision when building your party and you're worried you won't be able to beat Wagnas, you can tell him you were “just leaving” when you first encounter him and he'll teleport you away from the castle, allowing you to reconfigure your party .
