How to solve the Inverted Palace Puzzle (Chapter 8)

Ustwo Games' Monument Valley 3 continues the tradition of a series of beautiful stories and creative puzzles. As Noor, the young protagonist, you begin your journey by learning how to keep the beacon lit through Sacred Light under the guidance of your mentor. Sadly, the mentor is lost in obscurity in chapter five, Temple.

The puzzle of the upside-down palace in chapter eight is where Noor meets her mentor's soul and learns about the upcoming responsibility of rescuing the lost villagers and a special character called Nomad, though she doesn't fully understand this until later chapters. The eighth level puzzle features an overturned palace with intricate structures and cozy scenery. With that in mind, this guide will help you learn how to solve the puzzle Inverted Palace (level 8) v Monument Valley 3.

How to solve the Inverted Palace puzzle in Monument Valley 3

The Inverted Palace puzzle has three calming parts that will make you stop and think. Like the others Monument Valley 3 levels is full of tricky optical illusions that play with the rules of physics. Here's how to solve all parts of this puzzle in the game.

Part 1: Light and Darkness

In the first part of the Inverted Palace Puzzle, you find yourself in a unique palace, half submerged in the morning light and turned upside down into the night. Your goal here is enter the red door which appears at the end. To solve this part:

1. Move the blue and pink gears to align the tiles and create a path.
2. Cross the bridge and head to the palace door on the right.
3. After entering, you will find yourself on the night side of the palace. Slide the gear to the left to extend the path and reach the flash window.
4. Move the gear to the left to connect the path, then step on it green button.
5. Now slide the gear to the right to connect the path to the night mode door and enter it.
6. You will now be back on the morning side. Shift left, cross the track, climb the stairs and enter the last door at the top.

Part 2: The Inverted Palace

The second part of this Netflix exclusive puzzle is a bit more challenging, with two halves of the castle standing opposite each other. Your goal is to achieve red door again. Here's how to solve this part:

1. Go to the right side of the stairs, climb down and go through the door to the next area. You will find a yellow button – step on it.
2. A pillar will appear. Tap it to grab and slide it up to connect the two halves of the palace.
3. Return to the upper door. You will be turned upside down. Climb up and then slide through the swing gate on the left.
4. On the opposite side, press the yellow button, pull the pillar back and return to the front door.
5. Now simply enter the big red door.

Part 3: Reunion with the Master

In the final part of the eighth level Monument Valley 3you will enter a dark seaside environment with a red moon and black waves where it is a mysterious mentor awaits for Noor. Here's how to get to it and solve this section:

1. Start by taking the path on the right side of the black tiles. As you move, new tiles will appear while others disappear.
2. Get past the winding track and then continue straight. When you reach the end, turn towards the sky blue button and stand on it.
3. A short cutscene will play to reveal the new structure. Now move the entire building from the three sky blue circles below, twice to the leftuntil the stairs appear at the back.
4. Climb the stairs and go upstairs. Move the structure to the left again twice.
5. Walk towards the wall and at the top push the structure to the right twice.
6. Go down the stairs and press the blue button.
7. A red door will appear on the right in front of you. Simply enter.

At the end, a cutscene starts where the mentor offers Noor words of wisdom to hint at the exciting adventure that awaits her.
