Hunter x Hunter Chapter 405: The Two Hisokas

Hunter x Hunter 405 impresses, just like the previous chapters before it. IN HxH 405, the story cuts from the storylines involving Princes Kakin and Kurapika and instead goes back to the Mafia War and Phantom Troupe story.

This chapter sees the return of popular character Hisoka as his involvement in this arc only grows. The setup for what's to come is huge.

The real Hisoka returns

The Hisoka seen before was Bonolenov

Hunter x Hunter 405 opens with a game of poker and reveals the return of the long-awaited character Hisoka. Previously in HxHfans saw what they believed to be Hisoka found by Xi-Yu members Zakuro and Lynch. However, that Hisoka was fake, meaning that this is actually the first time Hisoka has been seen in a very long time.

This chapter shows Hisoka's thoughts. Hisoka was shown to have no interest in fighting the Chimera Ants, despite their insane power. He also wasn't interested in Halkenburg's ability as he learned that it was a group ability and not something he could fight 1 vs 1. Hisoka also revealed that he has no interest in fighting groups or non-humans no matter how powerful they are . Hisoka wants to be able to lay waste to his enemy one on one.

I'm normal. Group play or animal kinks do nothing for me. All I want is to ravage my partner one on one. — Hisoka

Right after that, fans saw another Hisoka after the first Hisoka. This isn't actually the real Hisoka, but Bonolenov, an underrated member of the Spiders disguised as him using his Nen ability, Metamorphosis, on Chrollo's orders. Metamorphosis works by allowing Bonolenov to transform into someone he has spoken to, and can maintain that form for as long as he spends face-to-face with that individual. Bonolenov also believes that he can transform for a shorter period of time for people who are smaller than him.

Chrollo entrusted Bonolenov with this risky task in order to give the mafia families the impression that he was keeping the balance on the Black Whale. If the mob family thinks they have Hisoka under surveillance, they will have no problem hanging around with the Phantom Troupe. This was seen in previous chapters when Xi-Yu took on the fake Hisoka. However, something didn't go as planned when Lynch, a woman who has a Nen ability that forces anyone she punches and asks a question to answer truthfully, asked Bonolena if he was Hisoka, to which he replied no. This led Bonolenov to kill her because she knew too much. However, he kept Zakura alive as he needed him.

In the present, Bonolenov has changed his disguise from Hisoka to something that looks like an owl, one of the Shadow Beasts that was seen in the Yorknew Arc at the time.

Chroll's hunt for Nen's powerful ability

This Nen ability will kill Hisoka forever

In Hunter x Hunter 405, Bonolenov appeared to be concerned about Chroll's mental state after the deaths of Shalnark and Kortopi. Chrollo asked him to transform into Hisoku and if he was to find Hisoku to transform into someone else and most importantly not to fight him. Bonolenov was more than willing not to fight Hisoka as he would be at a huge disadvantage anyway.

However, Bonolenov reveals that Chrollo didn't mention any of this during the meeting because he probably wants to handle Hisoka all by himself. Bonolenov would prefer that Nobunaga and his group deal with Hisoka due to Chroll's condition.

It turns out that Chrollo is actually looking for something on this Black Whale that will give him the power to kill Hisoka forever. This treasure definitely refers to Nen's ability that he wants to steal with Skill Hunter. What this ability is is unknown, but it is possible that Togashi has already shown it somehow. It's possible that whatever ability Chrollo is looking for will be the end of him once he uses it on Hisoku. This could soon spell the end of the Phantom Troupe.

This chapter also shows Chrollo walking alone. An announcement has been broadcast on the news to mark the 10-year anniversary of what is being described as the brutal murder of someone known as Mr Lisnorth. This man masqueraded as the chairman of an organization that helped underprivileged children; however, what he actually did is much darker. He was one of the men involved in the brutal killing of Sarsa, a little girl from Meteor City, whose death caused the formation of the Phantom Troupe.

This man was definitely killed by the spiders as revenge 10 years ago. Chrollo is simply thinking about how timid people are to believe that this man was a good person and everything the media says about him.

The Phantom Troupe and The Heil-Ly

• The members of Heil-Ly are only getting stronger

IN HxH 404, the last panel showed Nobunaga with his group, which includes Feitan and Phinks. They stopped their plan to head straight to Heil-Ly's hideout and instead wanted to go ask the other mob families a few questions. IN HxH 405, fans see how they do it. Nobunaga meets with Keni Wang and Tajao, the head and deputy head of the Cha-R family. Nobunaga questions with them about the leader of Heil-Ly and how they function as a group. Heil-Ly was recently taken over by a new leader, Morena, after the former died. Wang admits that they don't know Morena enough to know her true intentions with everything that's going on because unlike the other 2 mafia families, Heil-Ly kills a lot of innocent civilians.

Nobunaga and his group realize that Heil-Ly wants to destroy everything, including everyone on this ship and basically Kakin himself. They also conclude that they gain more power by killing people.

At the end of the chapter, Tajao leads Nobunaga's group to the previously sealed door – the door they said they would let them use once they actually worked together. This door is a passage between the different levels of the Black Whale.

Hunter X Hunter Chapter 405 also reintroduces Morena, along with the rest of Heil-Ly. Currently, many members have leveled up drastically, with Dogman now being the highest at 62. He is shown to be able to sense a Nen type of person, their expertise, and even fully identify them based on how close they are in distance. to him. Morena wants them to kidnap someone and force him to work with them, but that person is currently unknown. They don't seem to be a Nen user, so it's unknown what she would want with them.
