Is Blue Box enjoyable for pure sports anime fans?

Viewers looking for new sports anime to watch will find it Blue box when using a filter to search for shows of this genre in the Netflix or anime databases. It's a new and well-received show and most platforms, even the big ones like Netflix and Myanimelist, have “Sports” or “Sports Anime” listed as one of their genres along with “romance”. However, viewers will realize this only after a few episodes Blue box in fact, it deals with romance more than sports. If all you want is a sports anime, it is Blue box the right show for you?

The show features three sports. Taiki Inomata is an average badminton player, inspired by his love to perform better. It depends on whether you enjoy pure romance anime as well

The sport only serves to move the plot forward

The long and short of it is, if you're only looking for high-octane anime about sports and the bonds, strategies, and rivalries formed during matches at this point, then don't. Blue box not the show for you. It's a show that's good at what it's trying to do, but it's trying to tell a romance story, not a sports story.

Sports is important for Blue boxbut not in the same way as in other sports anime. The sports aspect is mainly there to move the story and be a catalyst for events that develop the relationships between the characters. Without badminton, Taiki wouldn't have the goal he has right now that allows him to bond with Chinatsu. Without rhythmic gymnastics, Hina wouldn't be a deep character fighting pressure from multiple angles, and she wouldn't have a meaningful heart-to-heart with Taiki. Without basketball, Chinatsu would have left with her family in the very first episode, and none of the events in Blue box would even happen.

Still, even if all the above statements are true, does it have to be a sport? Sports aspect is important, but at the same time not irreplaceable. You can't take the musical aspect out of this show without greatly altering the weight and meaning of the story. WITH Blue boxyou can basically take away the sports aspect and replace it with some other hobby and the story would basically stay the same. Instead of sports, the characters could be cooking, writing, or researching the paranormal and the show would still be as good or bad as it is right now, depending on how much romance and drama you enjoy.

Are there at least some good action scenes?

For people who were looking for a good sports anime but ended up liking it Blue boxEither way, you'll be happy to know that there are some decent sports scenes in the series. The best are probably Taiki's badminton matches, like the ones in episode 4 “If He Wins” and episode 7 “Can I Have One?”. During these matches, there are good-looking volleys and action shots. Some of the players and spectators even have classic sports anime scenes where they dissect what is happening in the match and plan what to do next.

Unfortunately, as of episode 7, the only sport to receive this kind of treatment is badminton. There are a few scenes depicting basketball and rhythmic gymnastics, but they are incredibly brief and have no introspective dialogue to describe what is going on or give advice on how the players/artists could improve.

Sports in Blue Box is more of a theme than a genre
