Solo leveling Season 1 made its spectacular debut in January 2024 and has since become an extremely popular series that fans look forward to every year. Due to the success of the 1st series in January 2024, we got a second Solo leveling season one year later in January 2025. Solo Leveling continues to grow in popularity, but for a while we had no idea what to expect regarding the future of the franchise. Finally, today, a year and a half since Season 2 aired, we know Solo Leveling is reportedly coming back in 2027 with a new movie — “Solo Leveling: Beyond The System”.
Now, at Anime Expo 2026 on July 3, 2026, it has been officially confirmed that Solo leveling the next project is officially a film adaptation. Instead of a simple third season, we now have a full theatrical release for the franchise, which is incredibly exciting to say the least. The movie is due out next year, and while we don't yet know what it will be about, we expect the Double Dungeon Arc to be adapted based on the movie's title alone.

Solo Leveling had humble beginnings, starting as a novel by Chugong in South Korea in 2016. Through Chugong's captivating narration, the story was eventually picked up in 2018 and made into a Manhwa story by Redice Studio, which became the basis for future story projects. Finally, in 2024, Aniplex and A-1 Pictures took on the challenge of bringing this story to life, and needless to say, it was one of the best releases of the year. Both Solo Leveling Season 1 in January 2024 and Solo Leveling Season 2 in January 2025 were massive hits.
Solo Leveling Season 2 aired its final episode, Episode 13, on March 29, 2025. The wait has been long as we've all been waiting for a new project to be announced, and finally more information has surfaced about what's next for the franchise. According to a new report that surfaced on July 3, 2026, Solo Leveling has a new movie project with a 2027 release date known as “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System.”
This has yet to be officially confirmed by the studio, but it seems like a possibility as it coincides with a previous committee report published by A-1 Pictures themselves in November 2025, which clearly stated that the studio was considering the film due to the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. Information is very limited at the moment, but with Anime Expo 2026 starting today, new information could be officially announced soon. Solo Leveling has its own stage at the July 4th, 2026 event between 10:30am and 11:20am PDT located in the JW Marriott Diamond Ballroom.

Solo Leveling Hits Japan in 2027 Cinematic Premiere and Could Adapt Ah Jin Guild and Double Dungeon Arcs
We still don't know much Solo Leveling: Beyond the Systembut based on what the reports suggest, the next project is promising. At the moment, Solo Leveling: Beyond The System it is expected to be released sometime in 2027, at least in Japan. The November committee report previously seemed to indicate that the studio wanted the film in 2026, but that apparently seems impossible now that the year is more than halfway over. 2027 seems like a more realistic date and we can't wait for more information to emerge soon.
Information about the upcoming Solo Leveling movie is limited, but we do know that it is being directed by Yoshihiro Kanno. It's possible that 'Solo Leveling: Beyond the System' will be a new original never-before-seen story like the new 2026 movie The Apothecary Diaries, but based on the title, it could be a theatrical release that adapts a fan-favorite arc.
The title title “Beyond the System” seems to hint at the Manhwa Double Dungeon arc. In the Double Dungeon arc, Sung Jinwoo is left without the powers of his System due to the Architect's involvement. Until more information is revealed, this arc seems like the most likely option, but we're hoping to see a trailer, or at least a key visual with the official announcement. The Double Dungeon arc includes chapters 123 to 131 in the manhwa. But if the Double Dungeon arc will be adapted, then it is highly likely that the Ah Jin Guild arc, which covers chapters 111 to 122, will also be adapted. We are incredibly excited to officially announce this news and we hope that the popularity of Solo Leveling will grow even more with this release.
