Fear Tall Grass is a new creature-battler headed to the Nintendo Switch

Announced via a trailer posted on YouTube, Fear of tall grass players take on the role of Gray, a child thrown into the center of a holy war. As Gray, players must venture into the looming tall grass that now covers most of the world and face the hostile beasts lurking within. To fend off these powerful enemies, players will have to tame and capture some of these animals and use them as soldiers in the ongoing war.

Fear of tall grass it puts strategy at the fore and as such its core gameplay loop is multi-faceted. During the mission, players will be presented with a square map that resembles a board game. Players will be asked to roll the dice and their character will move around the edge of the board one tile at a time. These tiles can offer vital resources or threaten the player with a combat encounter.

When a combat encounter starts, players will encounter a 2D arena with the enemy on one side and their own pet on the other. Once the enemy is weak enough, players can try to capture the creature and add it to their team. According to Fear of tall grassOn Steam, the game will feature 90 Vilekins at launch, with 15 unique types present for each of the game's six distinct elements. As might be expected, all six elements are resistant or weak to each other. Alongside these Vilekins, players will have access to a number of command abilities that can aid their creatures in battle.

The game features six basic types: Hydro, Pyro, Nature, Physical, Volt and Rock. For those familiar with the concept, the game promises to work similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus in terms of mastering each Vilkin and its types, as players can improve Vilkin's abilities and evolution options by capturing more and more of each type.
