The One piece the anime is currently adapting the Egghead arc of the series, and it goes without saying that they've done a more than decent job with the tools the staff has. In addition to the pace, One piece the anime can't really be faulted and it's quite clear to see that it has brought absolutely immense quality over the past few months. While some episodes were average, the vast majority of episodes that the One Piece anime produced were above average, with some even being considered some of the best episode releases of the year.

The One Piece anime is known for doing things that aren't exactly canon to the manga. For example, in the Wano arc, fans saw Prometheus, the sun homie, enter the ocean and save Big Mom from drowning, when in reality Oda had already discovered in the manga that Prometheus was weak to water and would die in it.
This became an ongoing trend even in the Egghead arc, where the One Piece anime branched out and turned the story into something completely different.
For example, Sanji's battle against S-Shark ended very differently in the anime than in the manga. It was clearly implied in the manga that Sanji was dominant in the fight against S-Shark and saved Nami and Brook. In the anime, it was Nami who saved Sanji in this fight.
Likewise, there were many other big changes the anime made to the manga, and some others that make absolutely no sense. The latest of these concerns Jewelry Bonney.
Immediately after transforming into Nika, Bonney used a powerful Nika punch that was launched at Saturn along with Luffy's own attack. In the manga, it was made very clear that Bonney only used Armament Haki on her techniques and launched a barrage of attacks at Saturn. However, in the anime, red lightning appeared to emerge from her massive fist, giving fans the impression that she was using Conqueror's Haki.

Red lightning bolts are a sign of Conqueror's Haki infusion. The anime was particularly inconsistent with this Conqueror's Haki gauge, assigning it to many random characters, some of whom don't even possess Haki.
Bonney also got these red lightning boltsand it gave some fans the false impression that she could use Conqueror's Haki.

Bonney could continue to awaken the Conqueror's Haki at some point later if he feels like it. But an anime that gives her this power, or at least seems to imply that she has this power, is a glaring mistake and misdirection.
One Piece Anime is great but fans should read the manga for the mistakes
The One piece anime is a great product. It offers fans stunning fights and even covers episodes that are more lore-heavy or emotion-heavy very well. All in all, this has been a consistently good product over the past few years. However, fans should absolutely avoid watching One Piece without reading the manga.
There are many inconsistencies between the two, and to really know the true sequence of events, something the anime completely makes up, fans should read the manga alongside it. Whether it's fights where characters are either given or taken away, or other lore-specific events where things that aren't even true are seemingly confirmed, the anime is wildly inconsistent. Reading the One Piece manga is absolutely essential to fully experience the story.
