After being introduced in the pre-timeskip of One piecefans knew that Blackbeard was always saved by Oda for the Final Saga. Of course, Blackbeard has caught the eye every now and then, but his true role will only play out here, which is something that fans are incredibly excited about. Blackbeard is one of the four emperors in One piece right now and a major player in the search One piece.

Along with Buggy, Luffy and Shanks, Blackbeard is one of the four main pirates vying for fame and glory on the high seas, and that's what makes him incredibly exciting. Even more than that, Blackbeard is one of the main antagonists One pieceand the one that made Oda a big thorn in Luffy's side. All of these things make Blackbeard a possibly incredible antagonist One Piece's the very best. Like any other main antagonist, Blackbeard hides many secrets, and one of the biggest of them involves his own strange body.

It's no surprise to fans that Blackbeard is special. He is not a normal person and there was always something about him. This was clear to fans from the very beginning when Luffy first met him in Mock Town. Obviously, Luffy was able to sense something else about Blackbeard and referred to him as 'they'. Of course, this could simply be Luffy referring to Blackbeard and his pirate crew, but there is a deeper meaning to be found here. Maybe Luffy sensed more than one presence inside Blackbeard. This was further hinted at later when Ace fought Blackbeard. Despite dealing life-threatening wounds to a former member of the Whitebeard Pirates, Ace was unable to break through in this fight. He had the upper hand in this battle for a significant amount of time, only to lose later.

This pattern has been repeated on numerous occasions in the series, even in the Paramount War, where Blackbeard's greatest secret was first hinted at. When Blackbeard was able to consume the second Devil Fruit, fans were completely shocked. This shock was compounded by the Five Elders, who declared that in the entire history of the world, no one had ever successfully eaten more than one Devil Fruit. This means that Blackbeard is doubly special and that there is no one like him in the world that the fans or the Elders know of.

Marco was the one who suggested that things like eating two types of fruit were possible for an individual like Blackbeard due to the special body. However, Marco chose not to go into specific details about his body. At least fans know his body was exceptional.

In the Wano Country arc, fans got a glimpse into Oden's life, where Blackbeard once again took center stage. In Chapter 966 One pieceRoger and Whitebeard meet on an unknown island in the Grand Line. There, fans saw Shanks and Buggy go up against the likes of Blackbeard and young Jozu along with other pirates. Specifically after this battle, Buggy mentioned that he heard that Blackbeard wasn't sleeping at all. Of course, it could just be a childhood prank, but it definitely has a deeper meaning.

Blackbeard is awake and unable to sleep for some reason. This can be further connected to Luffy in Drum Island where he stated that there are some people in the winter lands of the world who will die if they sleep. Maybe it has something to do with Blackbeard's secret and his strange body that makes things even more interesting.

Why can Blackbeard eat two devil fruits

Blackbeard's unique body can hold two powers

It's clear that the reason Blackbeard can eat two Devil Fruits is related to his body. Of course, there are many ideas, some of which suggest that Blackbeard may have eaten a special Devil Fruit, such as a Kraken or an Octopus, allowing him to hold three hearts, thus three Devil Fruits. This idea is interesting to say the least, but it cannot be true. Blackbeard has a strange body not because of the devil fruit, but because he was born that way. This is clear from Buggy's conversation with Shanks where he says that Blackbeard can't sleep. Luffy himself hinted at this in Drum Island, and Oda even drew a young Blackbeard crying instead of sleeping at night.

It's clear that Blackbeard was born special and this specialty leads to him being able to consume two Devil Fruits. What happens to Blackbeard's body, fans don't know. Perhaps Blackbeard has a parasitic twin within his own body, and having consumed his twin, he can now hold two Devil Fruits. That would make sense why Blackbeard can't sleep. Maybe when Blackbeard sleeps, his twin wakes up and stops him from sleeping, or maybe he can take his own life.

Of course, this is all just speculation, but if there's one thing fans absolutely love about One Piece, it's theorizing and discussing different ideas. Blackbeard with a parasitic twin is certainly valid and fans may see more of him later.

Is Blackbeard from a special race?

Since Blackbeard has a special body, it is also possible that he is of a special race. However, while it's certainly a possibility, fans should know by now if Blackbeard was that special. Also, if Blackbeard was of a special race, then there should be more people in the world One piece who would be able to eat two Devil Fruits, and in that case the Elders should definitely be aware of it instead of being surprised that Blackbeard could consume two of these powerful abilities.

It is highly likely that Blackbeard is not of a special race, but his body is special for another reason. The idea that Blackbeard has a twin inside his own body that is constantly fighting him and could potentially kill him if he is not suppressed makes more sense. This would also explain why Blackbeard can hold more than one Devil Fruit since there are two people in one body. This is certainly an incredibly exciting idea and explains why Blackbeard has a unique body.

Hopefully, Oda will shed more light on Blackbeard in the Final Saga and reveal every bit of mystery about him. Blackbeard vs. Shanks and Blackbeard vs. Luffy are two fights where Oda will shine a light on his special body and abilities, and fans absolutely can't wait.
