One Piece Chapter 1184 Preview: Brook and Candelle's Past

After release One piece 1183 in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26 dated May 24, 2026, all eyes are now on One Piece Chapter 1184, especially since it has now been officially confirmed that the manga will not be taking a break anytime soon. One Piece Chapter 1184 is set for a main release in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #27 on May 31st, 2026, which falls this coming weekend.

This chapter finally takes us on a deep dive into Brook's story after he finally started it, after the one year setup by author Eiichiro Oda. Now it's time to finally flesh out Brook's connection with the likes of Shuri, who serves as the current Gunko of the Holy Knights, as well as Queen Candelle, who was officially introduced in the latest chapter released on May 24th, and that's something I'm looking forward to.

One Piece Chapter 1184 will continue Brook's story

One piece Chapter 1184 is expected to continue the story of Brook and Shuri, both of whom are central to the overarching storyline of the Elbaphian story arc. Brook officially started explaining the story of his past with Shuri last chapter, and we've only scratched the surface so far. The next few chapters will likely focus on Brook's past in the Kingdom of Esperia 70 years ago. As seen in One Piece Chapter 1183, Brook served as the leader of a raiding party for the Kingdom of Esperia, serving directly under the country's King Reuven. This king is the individual to whom Brook says he owes everything in life. I'm curious to see what role she ends up playing in Brook's life, as so far the two seem to be on friendly terms with some rivalry over Queen Candelle, whose magic was officially greatly expanded in One piece Chapter 1183.

IN One piece In chapter 1183, it was officially stated that Lady Candelle was the former battle convoy commander of the musical kingdom of Esperia, which no longer exists. She's sure to be incredibly important going forward, and sure to attract unwanted attention from anyone trying to appropriate her. The Moulon family was officially introduced in the previous chapter in their latest attempt to get Candelle, but with Brook's Three-Pace Hum Notch Slash, they were all destroyed in a single blow.

“She'll be fine, boss. For one thing, she's very strong. They can't take her away!! Plus, I'm quite surprised they haven't noticed yet. You see, I would have cut them all down before they left port.” – Brook, One Piece Chapter #1183

This means that their leader, Don, has yet to be introduced in the story, and One Piece Chapter 1184 could finally resolve this as Eiichiro Oda expands on Candelle and Brooke's story.

Candelle and Brook's battle in skills catches the attention of the author

One piece Chapter 1183 ended on a very strong note, highlighting Brook and Lady Candelle as the flashback protagonists. While Brook led a platoon of raiders within the Esperia Kingdom's battle convoy, Candelle had a tremendous power that was enough to see her lead the entire battle convoy of the kingdom itself. These two stood at opposite ends and were both incredibly powerful as well as music lovers. As to what their past connection is and what their personal relationship was like, we'll just have to wait and see what direction Oda takes the story.

One chapter 1184 could set them up as two rivals, both renowned with blades and equally good at music. This rivalry is what may have ignited the love for Candella in Brooke's heart, and that's definitely exciting to see. In both cases, the general plot has already been established, as Shuri and Kendel will likely head to the Holy Land of Marijoa with the King to dream and then face their eventual demise, which Shuri will end up bearing the vast majority of the blame for.

The Holy Knights might be interested in the kingdom of Esperia

One piece Chapter 1184 could also reintroduce the Holy Knights into the overarching plot of this flashback. The Holy Knights are individuals that Brook is very aware of. When they were first introduced in Elbaf, Brook was the only individual who knew about them. This means that he had personal contact with them at some point in the past.

In One Piece chapter 1183, Brook also officially stated that Princess Shuri went to the Holy Land of Marijoa and lost contact with the Kingdom of Esperia, which no longer exists. As such, the Holy Knights will definitely play a significant role in this flashback sooner or later, and we may see a few more of their members as well.

This would also serve the plot in an interesting way by expanding the overarching mystery story the author created around the holy knights. Perhaps a member of the Holy Knight could fall in love with Lady Candelle and that in turn could cause Esperia to gain allegiance to the World Government and then attend the Dreaming where everything would come crashing down.

One Piece 1184 could finally set up the incident in Esperia

most importantly One piece Chapter 1184 could set up the Esperia Incident, just like the God Valley Incident that took place in the One Piece world 38 years ago. In the previous chapter, Brook officially stated that he is from the kingdom of Esperia, which no longer exists. This means that Esperia was destroyed, like God Valley, long ago.

Something tremendous must have happened on this island that Brook is from. When you combine this with Princess Shuri being taken into the ranks of the Celestial Dragons and being brainwashed, as well as the complete disappearance of Candelle and the death of the king, who is said to have been killed by Shuri himself, the plot is pretty simple to understand. Just like Rocks D. Xebec was Domi Reversed in God Valley, something similar probably happened in Esperia 70 years ago.

It will be interesting to see where the story goes from here, but everything is building towards this majestic flashback that ends with the incident at Esperia where the entire country collapses and Brook is left with no one to turn to. This eventually merges with the formation of the Rumbar Pirates and Brook joins Yorkie, with whom he then spent a significant part of his life.
