Pokemon Theory Imagines Clever Origin for Mimikyu
A new Pokemon fan theory has surfaced that links the origin of the Ghost/Fairy-Type Mimikyu to a Gen 1 creature other than Pikachu.
Redditor Zotos_Workshop has shared his incredible metal recreation of the Generation 2 Pokémon Feraligatr, the final evolution of the water starter Totodile. According to the user, the creation took about 82 hours to bring to life, welding recycled metal together along with “a bit of spray paint.” The final product looks amazing, with sharp metal pieces giving the Feraligatr a wild look. The fact that this is a life size recreation makes it all the more impressive as Zotos_Workshop includes a picture of themselves with their creation to show how big it is.
The user even gave a glimpse into their creative process to bring this metal version of Feraligatr to life. It starts with a basic sketch that notes exactly what pieces of recycled metal will make up the Pokemon's parts. The structure then begins to take shape with the basic frame of the Feraligatr, which is then further padded with additional pieces of metal. It will eventually become more recognizable as a gen 2 water type starter and the eventual spray paint is what will really finish it off. Overall, they said they weighed 180 to 200 pounds. They are not 100% sure about the weight but described it as “definitely hard to move”.
Pokemon Generation 2 was released in 1999, which means fans have had plenty of time to familiarize themselves with these early designs. This makes them a very popular choice when it comes to fan art. Newer designs simply don't have the longevity compared to the classics. Although they may eventually get there, nostalgia that many Pokemon Fans are in a great position for older designs to receive tons of fan tributes. The same goes for starters. There's usually a lot more Pokemon starter fan art than any other design, as players spend far more time in-game with them than with other Pokémon. As a result, fans become more attached to the starters, making them the first thing that comes to mind when making artwork and tributes.
