Popular Bethesda game coming soon to Nintendo Switch 2

Oblivion Remastered has been officially rated by the ESRB for Nintendo Switch 2, indicating that the planned port is very close to release. Bethesda initially revealed Oblivion Remastered for the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year with a 2026 release window, and it looks like the launch could be getting closer and closer.

Oblivion Remastered was one of the biggest gaming surprises of 2025. Almost two decades after the release of the original, Bethesda fell Oblivion Remastered without prior notice, giving players a complete Unreal Engine 5 remaster of the classic RPG. There have been a few leaks before that giving those who were paying attention some warning, but from Bethesda's end it's been a complete drop in the shadows, a strategy that has proven to be successful for the game. The remaster itself was largely well received, with some important additions modernizing the RPG without detracting from the original experience.

ESRB rating for Oblivion Remastered was recently updated to include a Nintendo Switch 2 version, which would indicate that its release on the platform is imminent. There's usually not a huge gap between when titles are rated and released, so it stands to reason that Nintendo Switch 2 players won't have to wait much longer to finally get their hands on a popular remaster.

Rumors about Oblivion RemasteredThe Switch 2 port began circulating around the original release of the game, which was only on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It finally confirmed those rumors in February 2026 and revealed the port with a release window for this year. Fallout 4 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It was part of Bethesda's push to bring its titles to Nintendo's flagship home console, so it's great to see that a release could finally be in sight.

It remains to be seen how Oblivion Remastered will play on Nintendo Switch 2. The game had major performance issues on all platforms and developer Virtuos didn't continue to update the game very long after its release to fix it. Hopefully there was time to make the Switch 2 port run as smoothly as possible, otherwise it could suffer from some of the same issues.

However, there's still no indication of when players can expect to get their hands on the next main game in the series, with the wait between Skyrim in November it will be extended to more than 15 years.
