It's all too rare good news in the gaming industry that the Supamonks team behind the Absolum art is moving to another organization to continue working on the series.
If you're not a Nintendo fan and let things flow, the past few weeks have been one gut punch after another when it comes to gaming industry news. Xbox is about to go through a massive layoff that sounds like it could impact almost every studio, and PlayStation is marching forward with a digital-only future that everyone hates.
All of this kept getting worse, but the news that hit me the hardest came a few days ago when it was announced that Supamonks, the team behind the incredible art direction of Absolum, had gone into liquidation. This has left Absolum's future looking very unclear, but there has been a very positive update that makes it look as bright as ever.
Absolum's art team is relocating to continue work on the game and IP
The animated series will live on
On Twitter, Absolum's official page shared an update regarding Supamonks news, thanking fans for their “many messages of support and questions about the future” of the game. The account confirmed that the Supamonks team that specifically worked on Absolum had moved on to another unnamed organization.

Absolum art director Maxime Mary gave TheGamer an exclusive look at the creation of his four heroes and shared more about his time on the game.
This means that the Absolum art team has essentially been retained to continue working on the game itself through future updates, the IP as a whole in case something more is done with it, and the animated series that was announced some time ago. While it's terrible that the Supamonks themselves were hit so hard, it looks like Absolum remains stable.
Absolum is one of the best indie games to come out in the last few years and had a very bright future ahead of it, so it's great to hear that it's not affected by Supamonks closing. Talamha's amazing art style will live on and I am very grateful for that.
