The best skills to get in first in Arc Raiders

Arc Raider will be many players' first foray into the world of extraction shooters, especially the console crowd who haven't had access to many of the mainstays of the genre and have instead been cursed with things like DMZ.

However, players who are new to the genre may not immediately know which skills will make an immediate difference and which ones are not worth the early investment. There are a few skills that will change each turn and make transitioning into the genre a little easier.

8

Looter's Instincts

Container search in Arc Raiders.

In Arc Raiders, you spend a lot of time looting; that will be true soon and it will be true later. There's no getting around this fact, but one thing that can make it a little easier is faster looting.

This skill will increase the detection rate of loot in the container. At first glance, this may not seem like an incredible difference, but the time saved during the entire round adds up to something meaningful.

7

In-Round Crafting

Inventory in Arc Raiders.

It will take you a while to understand every resource you need to craft key items, but one way to speed up the process (and craft some valuable items mid-run) is to gain the ability to craft while you're at the top.

Sometimes you're going to eat the resources you carried in your backpack on the way up faster than you'd expect, and being able to replenish some of them by creating a top can save you from wiping out and losing all your loot.

6

Silent scavenger

Container heist in Arc Raiders.

We mentioned it above, but you'll be looting quite a bit. You'll also run into more Raiders quite a bit. And there are few easier ways for the next raider to take you down than to hear you loot and take advantage of your inability to defend yourself.

Silent Scavenger makes your scavenging quiet and that can make all the difference. If the enemy can't hear you looting, they are less likely to detect your presence. Which means you can fall on them instead.

5

Agile Croucher

Sneak in Arc Raiders.

Stealth will often be a tactical necessity in Arc Raiders. Stealth doesn't necessarily mean you never get into fights or aren't aggressive; stealth can simply mean that you maneuver silently to get into combat where you are at an advantage.

This will often require crouching to move silently. Unfortunately, crouching slows your movement quite a bit. But with this skill, it will noticeably reduce the movement penalty.

4

Marathon runner

Sprinting in Arc Raiders.

There will be large parts of each run where stamina is not an issue. But when stamina becomes an issue, it's suddenly the most valuable resource after health.

This skill will ensure that you use less stamina to move. This ensures that you can use your stamina much more defensively or aggressively, and it can make all the difference in a fight.

3

Young lungs

Sprinting by screeching a car in Arc Raiders.

This is related to the last skill and is next in the tree. What's better than your actions that require less endurance? For starters, have more stamina.

Combining both of these skills will make a huge difference to you. With this combination of skills, you will be able to do much more and other players will not be able to keep up.

2

Gentle pressure

Breaking the hood of a car in Arc Raiders.

There will be certain containers in Arc Raiders that require cracking to open. This is an extremely loud (and at times extremely loud) process and can attract the wrong kind of attention.

This skill makes breaching noticeably quieter. This doesn't turn it into a covert operation by any means, but it does mean that enemies will have to be measurably closer to hear it, rather than seemingly anywhere within 50 meters.

1

Experienced Pryer

Cracking a ruined arc in Arc Raiders.

While the sonic aspect of a container breach is definitely the most concerning, the time it takes to breach can also be an important factor. This is less true when it comes to stealth and more important when it comes to hacking items like Arc Probes.

Arc probes often lie in the middle of open space, and time spent around them is time that can be spent in the enemy's crosshairs. Being able to open things faster means you can return to relative safety much sooner.
