Call of Duty Warzone begins the PS4 and Xbox One shutdown process on June 4

Removed from stores on June 4th with a full sunset on October 23rd

Over the next few months, Activision will be phasing out Call of Duty Warzone from life support, at least the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Completed in steps, this process begins June 4thwhen players will no longer be able to download Warzone from the PS and Xbox stores (for these versions). On June 25th, Warzone will close its in-game stores, although the free Battle Pass will not be affected. Once Modern Warfare 4 triggers on October 23rd, Warzone will become unplayable on PS4 and Xbox One.

COD points must be redeemed by June 25, at least on PS4 and Xbox One.

As we've seen with cross-gen games like Genshin Impactthere comes a point when supporting outdated versions no longer makes sense, either due to a declining player base or the hardware not being able to handle newer updates. PS4 and Xbox One players can continue their existing Warzone experience and access content purchased with COD Points by playing on PC or more modern systems if using the same Activision account.

F2P MMORPG Closers Sunsets its global release on June 24th

The 11-year-old game is writing its last international chapter

Although not a massive name in North America and Europe, Closer is the most maintained game in this article. Launched in South Korea in 2014, the free-to-play action RPG enjoyed a strong start to life, but seemed to struggle to support a large and consistent community that never transitioned from niche to mainstream. Despite debuting in late 2017, the English version of Steam never really found its footing, with its peak player count at just over 2,000 July 2022 was the last Closer it cracked over 200 concurrent players on Steam, though it might have been more successful on mobile.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of you who have been with and supported Closers World over the years.

I'm technically part of the problem because I left Closer after a while. That said, Naddic put together a fun and stylish game that had pretty damn good combat, especially for an online RPG. The RPG supported solo play, with the episodic campaign designed for single players who don't mind the grind. In a way, it paved the way for likes Genshin Impactalthough he never had that level of success. Only the international version will be discontinued as the South Korean version continues to be supported.

Just put this spin-off out of its misery

Although not very popular The Elder Scrolls game, Blades' closure still feels like a big deal, just for name recognition. Launching in 2020 to a pretty terrible reception, the game entered maintenance mode within two years or so, suggesting that Bethesda has more or less decided to move on from the spin-off. Get rid of the open world for linear missions, Blades it suffered from many of the traditional pitfalls of free-to-play mobile versions: it was driven by the power of microtransactions.

After removing it from stores a few months ago, Bethesda is shutting down the Blades servers on June 30, ending one of The Elder Scrolls' least successful branching attempts. As much as it would be nice to see the content preserved in one form or another, the game has been knocking on death's door for basically its entire existence. Ultimately, the Grim Reaper must answer.
