Some newly published data suggests that many of them The Game Awards 2024 nominees have seen an increase in sales since their nominations. The pace of sales of titles like Astro Bot, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazioand more likely arose from heightened public curiosity thanks to The Game Awards.
The Game Awards is one of the most notable gaming events on the calendar as it aims to celebrate the best games released each year. Although The Game Awards offers many categories for different genres such as RPG, Action-Adventure, Indie, Fighting, Mobile and many more, only one game of the best takes the prestigious Game of the Year award. However, this year The Game Awards caused some controversy with the nomination Elden Ring'with Shadow of Erdtree DLC between standalone releases for Game of the Year.

The nominations for The Game Awards 2024 have been announced, and while many great games were included, these games were sadly left out.
Besides Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeis among the contenders for the game of 2024 Metaphor: ReFantazio, Astro Bot, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Balatroand Black Myth: Wukong. This list of nominees was revealed at The Game Awards early last week and seems to have had a positive impact on their sales since then. GamesIndustry.biz's Christopher Dring recently took to Twitter to share GSD data from Europe, and it reveals an increase in sales for many titles nominated in various categories of The Game Awards.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched at the beginning of 2024, but a week-over-week sales increase of 268%, the largest on this list. Metaphor: ReFantazio ranked second with a 172% increase, p Astro Bot ranked third with 61% higher sales. Although Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake was rejected for the 2024 game, it still saw a respectable 43% increase and Elden Ring closely followed with a 38% increase in sales. The Game Awards may not have been the only factor behind the spikes, however, as Dring noted in a follow-up tweet that game sales naturally increase during the holiday season each year.
Regardless, the increased curiosity surrounding games nominated for prominent categories at The Game Awards cannot be underestimated. This was revealed by separate data released earlier this week Balatro also experienced a big jump in sales on mobile platforms after receiving five nominations at The Game Awards 2024.
