Pokemon GO is temporarily introducing Remote Raid Passes for Shadow Raids
While this feature will be limited to the Fashion Week: Taken Over event, players can battle remotely on the day of the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid on January 19th between 14:00 and 17:00 local time. On Raid Day, Trainers will have an increased chance to catch the elusive Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh, along with the ability to teach him the charged Sacred Fire attack. Players can also use Charged TM on Shadow Pokémon to forget about the frustration of moving.
Players will no doubt be excited about using their remote raid passes in Shadow Raids, as it remains one of them Pokemon Gothe most requested features since they were first added to the game in 2023. It's worth noting that once the Fashion Week: Taken Over event ends, players will no longer be able to use any remote raid passes in Shadow Raids.
It's hard to say if Niantic will allow players to use remote raid passes for shadow raids going forward, or if this is a one-off experience. Developers from Pokemon Go faced criticism for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles due to the number of trainers that had to gather in person to face the tougher monsters, so it would make sense for many fans if the feature became permanent.
