There are several of them continuation are due out in the next few months and even more so in 2026, which fans knew would eventually come. For example, even though Grand Theft Auto 5 came out in 2013 and fans knew that there were no more than ten reports about the series Grand Theft Auto 6 would eventually arrive. Based on the success of the previous game, it would be wild for Rockstar to sit on the IP.
Other planned sequels were more surprising when they were announced, let alone the few that already have firm release dates. For many fans, these games seemed like they could never happen. Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault

Monthly was an innovative 2018 roguelike that combined dungeon-based runs with a trader simulator. Players delved into dungeons, collected loot, and then either sold their finds in their shop or used them as materials to craft or upgrade their gear. As a standalone experience, it would have been fine, especially since developer Digital Sun has made other games since then.
Hence the announcement Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault was a big deal because the developer seemed to have moved on. The original gameplay loop appears to be intact, but the sequel has the added bonus of now being presented in 3D instead of 2D from a top-down perspective. Moonlighter 2 it will launch in early access soon, which is exciting.
Kirby Air Riders

Kirby Air Riders was announced this year, in 2025, and ii will launch just a few months after that announcement. This is an incredible turnaround considering the one and only other game in the series, Kirby Air Ridewas a 2003 GameCube game.
Both games share the same gimmick of being Kirbyracing games, but the sequel looks much more complex. There are new characters, vehicles, combat opportunities during races and much more. It almost looks like a Super Smash Bros. spinoff, and that might give Mario Kart World a run for its money as another Switch 2 racing exclusive.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was originally announced as a Switch game in 2017, the same year the console launched. After numerous delays, including studio changes, the game is finally coming to both Switch and Switch 2 in December 2025. Primary series and more Metroid games starring Samus, the main series seemed dead for over a decade.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was released on Wii in 2007, so the wait was extra long for fans who like to play as Samus in first person. In addition to shooting space pirates, this sequel also boasts a semi-open world that you can explore on a motorbike, and Samus gains psychic powers.
Onimusha: Path of the Sword

With the exception of the first and third games, most of the items in Onimusha series are separate, like Final Fantasy. Onimusha: Path of the Sword is another game in the series that fans have been waiting for since the PS2 days. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams was a late-era PS2 game released in 2006 that was well-reviewed, but Capcom ended up not continuing the franchise on new hardware.
During that two-decade long wait, there have been several mobile spinoffs and remasters, but nothing to the extent that fans wanted to see: a proper new entry. Onimusha: Path of the Sword it looks darker in tone than the PS2 era games and the combat feels more intense, so maybe this is the reboot treatment the series needs in 2026.
LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight

Technically, he was the last focused experience starring the LEGO version of Batman LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham in 2014. Legacy of the Dark Knight it will also be larger in scale, with an open-world city to explore, more characters to play as, and reactive combat similar to Batman: Arkham games.

Scott Pilgrim EX he is more of a spiritual successor Scott Pilgrim vs. world: The gamewhich was based on the film of the same name. Both the movie and the game were released in 2010 and received praise from a niche crowd of comic book fans. The original game soon disappeared from the digital shelves only to return in 2021. This was the first good sign, and then in 2023 Netflix made a new cartoon based on the original work with a twist called Scott Pilgrim starts.
Scott Pilgrim EX It looks like it will take place after the events of the original comic, but this time Scott and his friends will be up against interdimensional beings. The beat-'em-up style of gameplay will still feature a world map where players can travel between levels, beating up baddies and leveling up by buying items or gobbling food.
Fable
A comedy RPG rises from the ashes

Based on Microsoft's ongoing shenanigans of canceling their games in development, it may be too early to assume that Fable it will actually come out in 2026, or even at all. After all, the last big game in Fable franchise, Fable Legends, was abolished in 2016.
Fable Fortune was a free-to-play spinoff card game that came out in 2017, but the actual last main title in the series was Fairy tale 3 in 2010. So, while he rebooted Fable it may or may not work out, looks interesting. It has a proper open world to explore, the franchise's patented weird humor, and impressive action combat. Plus, it will feature Richard Ayoade and who doesn't love his dry wit?
