Tapio

A brave sword

Tapion with his sword

It's hard to gauge how strong Tapion is since he never actually takes part in a real fight Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragonbut all indications are that he is an amazing warrior and swordsman. He would have to in order to keep Hirudegarn at bay. Tapion's brave sword is said to be a gift from the gods themselves, which he then gives to Trunks at the end of the movie.

The interesting thing is that Dragon Ball GT The opening anime shows Trunks using the Brave Sword, which suggests Wrath of the Dragon is a canon anime continuity. Tapion's sword is mainly for show when you push, and combined with his Ocarina, the way to Dragon Ball have your own version of the link from The Legend of Zelda. This alone suggests that Tapion is a talented swordsman.

Dabura

Dark Sword

Dabura with his sword

The Darkness Sword is Dabur's signature weapon and the basis of his fighting style. As seen when he fights Gohan in Babidi's Ship, Dabura tends to save using his sword as a last resort. Gohan is able to catch and break the Sword of Darkness, but apparently it takes a lot of effort.

In Trunks' Future Timeline, he has a direct sword fight with Dabura. Despite wielding a much more powerful Z-Sword, Dabura is able to keep up in a duel with his Sword of Darkness. As the former King of the Demon Realm, Dabura is clearly a talented swordsman, but he just can't compete with the Saiyans when it comes to shoving.

Tamagami One

Tamagami sword

Dragon Ball Daima - Tamagami Issue 1 -1

Tamagami One is the strongest of the three tamagami v Dragon Ball DAIMA. The anime directly states that Dabura was never strong enough to defeat Tamagami One, making him much stronger than Super Perfect Cell and scaling him up to Fat Buu (if not slightly stronger). Tamagami One is eventually defeated by Majin Duu v Dragon Ball DAIMAthough not without a great deal of struggle.

Even then, Tamagami One is strong enough to take part in the final battle with Gomah alongside Super Saiyan 4 Goku. Tamagami One's signature weapon is his Tamagami Sword, which he wields almost effortlessly. The fact that Tamagami One was stronger than Dabura also means that he was the strongest swordsman in the Demon Realm – at least as far as canon characters are concerned.

10 Best Gohan Fights in DBZ & Dragon Ball Super, Rated

Between DBZ and Dragon Ball Super, Gohan stars in some of the series' best fights, proving why the next generation is always better than the last.

7

Janemba

Dimension Sword

Super Janemba in Dragon Ball Z

Janemba is the strongest non-canon villain Dragon Ball Z movies and about something stronger than Super Buu. During his final battle with Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Super Janemba uses his Dimension Sword to heavily injure Goku. Janemba would have even been able to kill SSJ3 Goku if Vegeta hadn't jumped in just in time to save his former rival.

Although the Dimension Sword is destroyed during Super Janemba's fight with Super Saiyan 3 Goku and Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta, it is an incredibly powerful weapon. The Dimension Sword is capable of literally cutting through dimensions, making it one of the most dangerous weapons in the series. The fact that Janemba came close to defeating Super Saiyan 3 Goku also speaks to his danger as a swordsman.

6

Goku Black

Violent Fierce God Slicer

Goku Black

Goku Black's Violent Fierce God Slicer is a Ki-based blade that he creates using his own energy. IN Dragon Ball Super anime, Goku Black uses his Violent Fierce God Slicer during a fight with Vegeta. He even manages to gain the upper hand during the battle and impale Vegeta with the Ki Sword.

Unlike other martial artists, Goku Black has a habit of using his Ki to make weapons. On top of the Violent Fierce God Slicer, Goku Black can also create a scythe called the Sickle of Sorrow and upgrade his Ki sword to the Azure Dragon Sword energy blade model. Base Zamasu uses Spirit Swords as his signature weapon, but when he has control over Goku's body, he can use Saiyan Ki to transform into an even more dangerous swordsman.

5

Gohan

Training Sword and Z-Sword

Although he doesn't use weapons often, Gohan has been a swordsman all his life. While training to fight Nappa and Vegeta, Gohan uses the training sword that Piccolo gives him to survive in the wilderness. Gohan ends up tripping over the sword once Piccolo starts training him in real martial arts, but he was strong enough to cut off the T-Rex's tail several times for meat.

Later in the Majin Buu Saga, Gohan pulls the Z-Sword from its base on Kai's Sacred World and becomes incredibly powerful just by training with it for several hours. By the time Goku arrived, Gohan had more or less mastered the art of the blade. He ended up breaking the Z-Sword on Katchina's block, but Gohan could do serious damage with the Z-Sword just based on how skilled he had become.

4

Vegito

Spirit Sword

Vegito never actually managed to win the fight, but he absolutely humiliated both enemies he fought. Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. IN DBZVegito uses the Spirit Sword – a Ki blade – to amazing effect against Buuhan. Vegito cuts off Buuhan's antenna, expecting Buu to use it to try to absorb him.

However, that doesn't stop Vegito from toying with Buu a bit and hacking him to pieces. Later in Dragon Ball SuperVegito uses the Spirit Sword to literally cut off Fused Zamasu's hands, causing him immense grief as he pounded him point after point. Vegito's big problem is that it's too strong a fusion for Potara to hold, but if he really had no timeline, his Spirit Sword could make short work of any enemy.

Dragon Ball Super: 10 Most Powerful Characters Who Don't Need God Ki

God Ki in Dragon Ball Super is basically a cheat code to power up, but it's hardly necessary for the series' most powerful mortals.

3

Phew

Time cutter

Fu with the Time Cutter

One of the main villains in Super Dragon Ball Heroes and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2Fu is one of the most powerful demons in the entire franchise and a true threat to the entire multiverse. Fu's signature weapon is the Time Cutter, a sword that can literally absorb energy from its enemies. Fu's Time Cutter is powerful enough to conjure up black holes just by slicing in front of it.

Fu can also use his Ki to manifest an energy blade that he wields along with the Time Cutter. Fu's greatest feats include fighting Ultra Instinct Goku to a stalemate and fending off multiple versions of Vegito and Gogeta at once. Even without his sword, Fu is a force to be reckoned with.

2

Yajirob

Yajirobe's Katana

Yajirobe proves to be an unexpected savior for the Z fighters by cutting off Vegeta's tail with his sword while in his great ape form.

Yajirobe may be too weak to keep up with the Z-Fighters Dragon Ball Superbut he deserves immense respect for everything he did with his katana in the original Dragon Ball and especially Dragon Ball Z. In his first appearance, Yajirobe kills one of the Demon King Piccolo's children with a single blade of his katana (before eating him).

In the Saiyan Saga, Yajirobe basically becomes the MVP of the arc when he cuts off Great Ape Vegeta's tail. Yajirobe doesn't stop there either, using his katana to later slash Vegeta's back while fighting Gohan and Krillin. Yajirobe hasn't done much since then, but he doesn't need to prove that he is one of the greatest sword fighters in all of Dragon Ball franchise.

1

Future trunks

Trunk Sword, Z-Sword and Sword of Hope

Yajirobe may be the OG, but Future Trunks is without a doubt the best swordsman Dragon Ball history. In short, Trunks knows how to get the most out of his weapons. In his debut appearance, Future Trunks uses his sword to cut Mecha Frieza to pieces in a matter of seconds, killing the enemy Goku was fighting in no time. Future Trunks eventually breaks his sword fighting Androids 17 and 18, but eventually gets another one Dragon Ball Super hits.

He also wields the Z sword in his timeline and uses it to fight and defeat Dabury in a sword fight. Future Trunks also uses Super Saiyan Rage and the energy of the survivors from his timeline to transform his new sword into the Sword of Hope, an attack powerful enough to cut Fused Zamasu in two. If Zamasu wasn't immortal, Trunks would actually be able to kill him despite being objectively weaker – that's just how amazing a swordsman he is.
