Key things
- Twitch has added categories for Lego kits and miniature paintings.
- These new categories are meant to help authors reach their desired audience and build communities faster.
- Twitch frequently updates features to improve the user experience, such as editing tools and new content categories.
Twitch has officially added new categories to its streaming catalog for fans of Lego building and figure painting. While Twitch already has dozens of content categories for users to choose from, these two new ones are perfect for fans of specific hobbies.
As an ever-growing platform, Twitch frequently updates its policies, tools, and more in an effort to help both streamers and viewers have the best possible experience. For example, Twitch recently added a useful editing tool for streamers to share short clips more quickly. The platform also tries to keep up with audience trends and occasionally updates its category directory. Earlier this year, Twitch launched a DJ category separate from the existing Music category, allowing DJs to showcase their work live with more tailored copyright policies. Now Twitch has added two new categories that cater to a very specific audience.
As reported by Twitter user Zach Bussey, Twitch has launched two categories in its viewing catalog called “Lego & Brick Building” and “Miniatures & Models”. As the name suggests, the first is for creators whose content focuses on creating with Lego and other similar bricks. In contrast, the Miniatures category revolves around creators who paint, glue and even sculpt small figures. Although the best Twitch streamers usually share gaming or IRL live streams, many users prefer this kind of content for entertainment. As new as they are, both categories already have hundreds of followers and many active streamers.

While these categories are new to Twitch, the content they contain is not. The platform has had big Lego streamers for a while, like BrickinNick, whose channel has nearly twenty thousand followers. Adding these niche categories to the platform will hopefully allow streamers to reach their desired audience and build their communities faster. It could also help viewers filter their preferred content more quickly. Of course, not all Twitch updates are so encouraging. In September, Twitch removed the popular BibleThump emote from its platform, disappointing longtime viewers in particular.
Twitch is probably one of the most prominent streaming platforms on the market. The Amazon-owned site has catapulted several streamers to fame such as IShowSpeed, Kai Cenat and Ironmouse. Its main competitor, Kick, has managed to sign many of Twitch's former top creators, and the constant battle between the two platforms is on point. Twitch recently addressed how Kick streamers crashed Twitchcon and announced measures to prevent it from happening again. With streaming platforms regularly improving their moderation policies, users can have a better experience online and in real life.
