Where to grow strange corals and coral pieces in the sand: Conquerors of Sophia

Sand: Raiders of Sophie is a new extraction shooter that has just been released into Early Access. Players take on the role of raiders who clean up a desiccated ocean planet on their massive mechs called Tramplers. Similar to other PvPvE games of this genre, you will have to hunt all kinds of materials and successfully leave the match with them.

Two of these are Weird Coral and Coral Chunks, both of which are used to unlock different upgrades in three different Tech Trees. However, nothing in the game really explains how to get this material, which can be a bit of a headache if you're trying to get all the unique additions in the Tech Trees.

Here's what you need to know to find Weird Coral and Coral Chunks.

Strange Coral Location

When it comes to finding Weird Coral, you really only have two options, and neither of them are particularly fast or even that consistent. The first is to kill the zombie-like enemies called Upiors that you will encounter throughout the game, as Weird Coral is a potential drop after their death. It's not guaranteed, meaning you can kill their entire party and never see a single piece of Weird Coral.

Because of this, I recommend focusing your attention on the listed points of interest throughout the map. These often have around a dozen or more Upior for you to killmaking them the best places to farm these enemies for Weird Coral. When they die, check exactly where they died and look for purple colored coral on the ground.

Weird Coral can also be found in coral colonies that are scattered throughout the desert. These are purple, circular colonies that seem to have a rare chance of Weird Coral appearing on them. While on the Trampler, look around for shipwrecks with these colonies as they are usually defended by Upiors as well. That being said, I've only found about 2-3 Weird Corals this way in the time I've been playing.

Sadly, Weird Coral cannot be purchased and is currently not found in any crates that you can loot. If you want to get some for upgrading your Tech Tree, you'll want to focus on killing as many Upior as possible.

Coral Chunk Location

As for Coral Chunks, they can only be found in Securities Vaults at the time of writing. These are black safes that you can find either in shipwrecks, forts, lighthouses or coastal towns. Don't let the name fool you, even though these are places to store expensive items, there are tons of them all over the map. Plus, each safe has an average of 10-20 Coral Chunks, so it's easy to quickly accumulate a lot during a successful run.

I've had the best luck finding a few safes in coastal towns and shipwrecks guarded by Upiros. As for the former, these are usually the main loot spots, but it will require you to find the Ironclad along with a few zombies roaming the streets. Don't let their intimidating appearance fool you, as Ironclads are a pushover type and will explode around 5-6. 80mm cannon rounds.

Once you're free to explore the city, be sure to check out any building interiors or rooftops you can get to. Vaults are often scattered around towns and don't seem to follow any specific pattern. Be sure to use a lantern if it's night, as their black color allows them to easily blend in with the darkness.

Alternatively, another place where I've found a lot of safes is in shipwrecks that are still intact. You'll want to specifically look for any ships with big red doors on board. These can be blown up with either time bombs or a cannon shot from your Trampler. Inside the cargo hold will be a ton of loot, often containing several safes.

You should also check all the Upior-guarded boats, as you can not only get the occasional Weird Coral from their corpses, but also find several valuable safes around the wreck.
